Rogers studies

Harry G.Preuss, MD, MACN, CNS, received his BA and MD from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, and New York City, NY, trained for 3 years in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center under Dr. David E.Rogers, studied for 2 years as a fellow in renal physiology at Cornell University Medical Center under Dr. Robert... [Pg.828]

The Steams-Rogers study concludes that the Sulf-X process has the potential for lower capital and operating cost than the Wellman-Lord process however, it has several potential problem areas, including the operation of a high temperature calciner the handling of three different solid reagents pyrites, coke, and sodium sulfate and the need to circulate a complex slurry through much of the process. [Pg.585]

Let us see how the approach works in practice. One of the first studies dedicated to the applications of GA with regard to this task was that by Rogers and Hopfinger [12]. However, the pioneering efforts are due to the Nijmegen chemo-metrics research group led by Buydens [13, 14). [Pg.218]

Multiple chent studies have proliferated on a world basis since the first generally recognized study of this type done in 1952 on polyethylene by the Roger Wdhams organization. There are directories of available multiple cHent studies that can direct the researcher to a source, eg, FINDex—The FirectoTy of Market Research Keports, Studies, and Surveys. Multiple chent studies can have budgets of 50,000 to 250,000 and can require the equivalent of several work years by the researchers. [Pg.535]

The publication of this paper led to a stampede of research, both experimental and theoretical, and an examination of earlier studies by eminent people like Roger Penrose and Alan Mackay in England about the possibilities of filling space by tiling with two distinct populations of tiles, as illustrated in Figure 10.8. This is the basis of quasicrystalline structure. [Pg.416]

The first substrate analogue inhibitors of FAAH were reported in 1994. The anandamide analogues prepared represented three elasses of putative transition-state inhibitors a-trifluoromethyl ketones, a-ketoesters and a-ketoamides [62], In the initial sereening studies, it was found that the trifluoromethyl ketone eompounds tested were effeetive inhibitors of AEA hydrolysis. A selected set of a-keto esters also inhibited hydrolysis, while a-keto amides were ineffective. In particular, arachidonyl trifluoromethyl ketone (32), gave almost 100% inhibition of anandamide hydrolysis. A detailed investigation of the structural requirements for FAAH inhibition with a-trifluoromethyl ketones has been carried out by Roger and co-workers [63]. [Pg.215]

Roger and co-workers [68] have recently extended their studies to encompass heterocyclic sulfoxides and sulfones. In general, these compounds were less potent (up to 1,000 fold) than their a-keto heterocycle congeners. The best results were obtained with the benzoxazole sulfoxide (50) with a K of 2.6/iM. [Pg.217]
