Ring type

Bearing elements made of bearing steel were subject to studies. External ring-type elements with an internal race of 20 mm diameter and 12 mm height (Fig.4) were subject to tests using the contact probe and internal volumetric ones. Results of tests are given in Table 2. 

The prevacuum technique, as its name implies, eliminates air by creating a vacuum. This procedure faciUtates steam penetration and permits more rapid steam penetration. Consequendy this results in shorter cycle times. Prevacuum cycles employ either a vacuum pump/steam (or air) ejector combination to reduce air residuals in the chamber or rely on the pulse-vacuum technique of alternating steam injection and evacuation until the air residuals have been removed. Pulse-vacuum techniques are generally more economical vacuum pumps or vacuum-pump—condenser combinations may be employed. The vacuum pumps used in these systems are water-seal or water-ring types, because of the problems created by mixing oil and steam. Prevacuum cycles are used for fabric loads and wrapped or unwrapped instmments (see Vacuum technology). 

There is some beneficiation of talc by froth flotation (qv), practiced especially on ultramafic-type deposits. In this process (Fig. 2), talc is milled to its hberation size (—100 mesh (ca 0.15 mm)) using ball mills or ring-type roUer mills and then slurried at 10—30% in water. Flotation is done in conventional multistage float cells using methyl amyl alcohol as a frother. Typically two to four stages are required to upgrade the ore from 50—70% talc to 90—98%. The product is filtered and then flash-dried and milled to a final product.

It is important to note that simulated distillation does not always separate hydrocarbons in the order of their boiling point. For example, high-boihng multiple-ring-type compounds may be eluted earher than normal paraffins (used as the calibration standard) of the same boiling point. Gas chromatography is also used in the ASTM D 2427 test method to determine quantitatively ethane through pentane hydrocarbons.

Probably the most common seal is the restrictive ring type, normally used in the form of carbon rings. This seal controls leakage better than the non-floating labyrinth type, although it wears faster. The carbon ring seal does not tolerate dirt as well as the labyrinth seal. The carbon ring seal and the labyrinth seal may be ported for gas injection, ejection, or a combination of both. Any injection gas should be clean.

In general the dumped saddle type packing should give less blocking to support openings than ring type. 

PISTON RINGS are normally cast-iron of the single-piece snap-ring type, although other materials may be used when conditions require. PISTON ROD is carbon-steel, flame-hardened over packing travel area.

These are otherwise known as atmospheric or premix burners. Primary air is entrained into the gas stream prior to exit from the nozzle. The best known of these types is the Bunsen burner, and the most common is the ring-type domestic cooker hob arrangement. Both aerated and non-aerated types are often found in a bar configuration. Typical applications are heating of tanks and process uses involving direct heating of the product. Figure 24.9 shows a typical aerated bar burner. 

Figure 60.17 shows separable inner ring-type cylindrical roller bearings with elimination of a retainer ring on one side. 

Adding residue to the feed increases the sulfur content of coke proportional to the incremental sulfur in the feed (Table 2-6). Thiophenic (ring-type) sulfur compounds crack more slowly, and the uncracked thiophenes end up in gasoline, light cycle oil, and decanted oil. 

Polyethylene coating on ferrous pipes may be applied by means of one of the following processes circular or ring-type head extrusion, side extrusion and wrapping or powder sintering. The commercially available coating systems also differ further in that the extruded polyethylene may be applied in conjunction with various primer/adhesive systems. 

The N-end rule relates the in vivo half-life of a protein to the identity of its N-terminal residue. Proteins with destabilizing N-terminal residues such as arginine and leucine are recognized by a RING-type ubiquitin ligase (termed N-recognin or E3-a) that, together with a specific ubiquitin c, mediates poly-ubiquitylation.
