RIDDOR accident reporting

In 1998 there were 4 reportable (RIDDOR) accidents within Solutia UK. The actual number of working hours is not given, although it could be estimated from the number of employees. [Pg.316]

All accidents on or around the site are reported and investigated by management. Any changes found necessary are quickly implemented. All accidents, reportable under RIDDOR 1995, are reported to the HSE on form F2508. [Pg.79]

Employers have duties under RIDDOR to report accidents, diseases or dangerous occurrences. This information is used by the HSE to identify where and how risk arises and to investigate serious accidents. [Pg.9]

One port operator s safety department examined the accident statistics for the past six years for two major commercial ports. In that time, the two ports had had 4 reportable construction accidents and since then have spent around 100 million in capital expenditure. Two of these accidents occurred in the marine environment but were not the result of a marine-related risk, i.e. they could just as easily have occurred on land. However, the port s accident data may mask the true picture, as they would not record the contractor s accident data, as contractors are separately responsible for submitting the RIDDOR forms to HSE. [Pg.45]

RIDDOR stands for Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulation 1995, which is sometimes referred to as RIDDOR 95, or just RIDDOR for short. The HSE requires employers to report some work-related accidents or diseases so that they can identify where and how risks arise, investigate serious accidents and publish statistics and data to help reduce accidents at work. [Pg.49]

Not all accidents need to be reported but a RIDDOR report is required when ... [Pg.15]

Under the Notification of Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1980 (NADOR), since superseded by the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1985 (RIDDOR ) the definition of a major injury has changed with the effect of changing the previous classification of accidents used for statistics. [Pg.651]

The HSE produced a modified Accident Book Bl 510 in May 2003 with notes on these Regulations and the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR), (see Figure 18.4) and which now complies with the Data Protection Act 1998. The Stationery Office also produces a similar accident book. [Pg.336]

RIDDOR requires employers and those in control of a site, to report certain more serious accidents and incidents to the HSE or other enforcing authority and to keep a record. There are no exemptions for small organizations. Whoever is in control of a site must report accidents to the self-employed and members of the public. A full summary of the Regulations is given in Chapter 20. [Pg.336]

If a principal contractor has been appointed, contractors should promptly provide them with details of accidents, diseases or dangerous occurrences which are reportable under RIDDOR. [Pg.337]

The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR) require that specified Injuries and dangerous occurrences resulting from accidents arising out of or in connection with work... [Pg.392]

Future refinements of RIDDOR may result following current consultation on the need for Regulations specifically requiring employers to investigate the circumstances of all accidents, and following the outcome of trials held in Scotland on the reporting of injury details by telephone. [Pg.274]

When an accident occurs, there are certain things that must be done. All accidents need to be reported and recorded in the accident book and the injured person must report to a trained first aider in order to receive treatment. Serious accidents must be reported under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR). Under RIDDOR your employer must report to the HSE any accident that results in ... [Pg.30]

The Health and Safety Executive RIDDOR database does not classify reportable accidents into new build and refurbishment categories. [Pg.1]

The HSE holds accident data on reportable injuries in accordance with the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR) from 1985-86 to the present. 1 The accident data used in this Guide is based on two subsets of the RIDDOR database dealing with injury severity - major accidents and over-3-day accidents. These data sets which cover construction industry accidents from 1985-96, are classified in three ways, by ... [Pg.93]

There are 147,868 reported over-3-day accidents in the HSE RIDDOR data set for construction from 1985-96. Tables A14 -A26 profile the over-3-day accident data by frequency in various combinations. Table A14 shows work process types ranked by frequency of accidents. This is similar to Table A1 but for over-3-day accidents. As an example the first row of Table 14 indicates that 3310 finishing processes were the most common process type with 39,197 reported accidents, accounting for 26.5% of all reported over-3-day injuries. [Pg.102]
