Rewetting

It has been claimed that solutions containing 10—15% cellulose in 55—80% aqueous zinc chloride can be spun into alcohol or acetone baths to give fibers with strengths of 0.13—0.18 N /tex (1.5 to 2 gf/den). However, if these fibers were strain-dried (ie, stretched) and rewetted while under strain, strengths of 0.46 N/tex (5.2 gf/den) were achieved (92). 

Alternative Methods of Curing. The presence of salt in hides and skins has been a problem for taimers. Moreover, the quantity of salt, usually 10—20% by weight in cured hides, is an environmental problem. In the discharge of the water from the rewet and washing, the soluble soHds are normally greater than 20, 000 mg/L. This amounted to 2000 4000 mg/L in the combined waste stream of the taimery. 

LialkylSulfosuccinates. Introduced in 1939 by the American Cyanamid Company under the Aerosol trademark, dialkyl sulfosuccinates have become widely used specialty surfactants (Table 8) (9). Within the limitations in hydrolytic stabiUty imposed by the presence of the ester groups, sulfosuccinates are mild, versatile surfactants used when strong wetting, detergency, rewetting, penetration, and solubilization effectiveness is needed. 

Besides the spontaneous, complete wetting for some areas of application, e.g., washing and dishwashing, the rewetting of a hydrophobic component on a solid surface by an aqueous surfactant solution is of great importance. The oil film is thereby compressed to droplets which are released from the surface. Hydrophobic components on low-energy surfaces (e.g., most plastics) are only re wetted under critical conditions. For a complete re wetting of a hydrophobic oil on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) by an aqueous solution, the aqueous solution-oil interface tension must be less than the PTFE-oil interface tension... 

In the manufacture of coating materials, paints, varnishes, lacquers, dyestuff pigments, binding materials, and binders, surfactants are of great importance. Most of the systems used in these fields are dispersed. Therefore surfactants can accelerate the preparations of dispersions and improve their stability. For rewetting processes, like the so-called flush process, besides other anionic surfactants sulfosuccinates are also used. 

The periodic phenomenon described above indicates that the entire channel acts like the area beneath a growing bubble, going through periodic drying and rewetting. The cycle was repetitive with venting of the elongated bubble. Such a behavior affects the mean flow characteristics that usually are measured at the manifolds.

Water baskets daily—even in wet weather. Twice a day may be necessary in hot or dry, windy weather. Once a basket has dried out, it is very difficult to rewet. 

How often a container plant needs watering depends on the plant type, its size in relation to the container, the type of container (terra-cotta dries out more quickly than plastic), the site (a windy site increases the demand for water), the weather, and the season. Never let containers dry out—plants are much more prone to problems if they are short of water, and dry potting mix is difficult to rewet. In practice, most container plants need daily watering... 

Emergency aid ff a container plant has dried out to the extent that the plant has started to wilt, the soil may be hard to rewet from above. Stand the plant in a container of water for a few hours so that it can draw up all the water it needs from below. 

Drying of the subsurface solid phase can cause an increase in the rate of desorption. If penetration of a sorbate toward inner surfaces does not reach its equilibrium by the time drying commences, a fraction of the sorbate may remain localized at more accessible outer surfaces in an amount greater than that corresponding to the equilibrium level. Under these conditions, the drying of the system may increase the rate of desorption during successive rewetting.

To determine the effect of wet or dry product on the outside of the ampule, select 100 good ampules and pass through the machine. The ampules are then wetted (with water) and passed through the machine again. Rewet the ampules (with product solution) allow solution to dry on the outside of the ampules. Pass the ampules again through the crack detection machine.
