Returned products analysis

If return occurs during the bromination of cw-stilbenes and rotation around the C-C bond is faster than collapse of the intermediates to dibromides, this process will lead to fra j-stilbene (Scheme 9). We used this test to check the possibility of return in the bromination of unsubstimted, 4-methyl, 4-trifluoromethyl-, and 4,4 -bis(trifluoromethyl)-stilbenes in DCE (ref. 24). All these olefins gave clean third-order rate constants spanning 7 powers of 10. For each cis-trans couple the cis olefin was brominated 3.5 to 5.5 times faster than the trans isomer. Reactions for products analysis were performed at initial molar ratios of Br2 to olefin of 1 to 2, so that products arose only from the cis olefin, the trans isomer being accumulated in the reaction medium. [Pg.145]

If a comparison of alternative mechanisms indicates that products additional to those already detected should be formed by just one of the possible routes, e.g. the putative intermediate in Scheme 1.1 maybe known (or reasonably expected) to give more than one product, then return to a more detailed analysis of the products is indicated. However, in this event, one needs to establish beforehand that a technique is available for the detection and (preferably) quantification of the additional product(s) being sought. In general, if alternative mechanisms can be distinguished by product analysis, it is essential that the analytical technique and experimental protocol to be used be validated and shown to be capable of giving unambiguous results. [Pg.3]

Goods should be assigned an accurate status that indicates their position within the supply chain at any particular point in time. Examples could include Received, On Hold, Quarantined, Available, Planned, Picked, Dispatched, In Transit, Delivered, Rejected, Referred, and Awaiting Life Extension. Quarantined Status may apply to goods shipped without Certificate of Analysis, returned products, damaged products, incomplete products, counterfeit products, expired products, misbranded and adulterated products, or goods from an unauthorized Suppher. [Pg.835]

Ail returned products shall be critically evaluated for necessary analysis and testings, in addition to physical inspection when condition warrants. Those products which meet the appropriate specifications and characteristics may be transferred to a status of finished products and returned to inventory for resale. [Pg.504]

As can be seen from this analysis, the natural gas feedstock and capital charges amount to over 93% of the total production cost before return on investment. Therefore, energy consumption and capital investment are the key factors in determining ammonia production profitabiUty. [Pg.356]

Factors that enter into any economic analysis of handhng-warehousing systems are (1) expected mechanical and economic life of the system (2) annual maintenance cost (3) capital requirements and expected return on investment (4) building-construction cost and land v ue (5) detailed analysis of each work position (to determine trade-offs of labor and equipment expected future costs and availability of labor are important) (6) relation of system control and personnel used in system (trade-offs of people versus mechanical control) (7) type of information system (computerized or manual) and (8) expected changed in product, container, unit pallet loads, and customer preferences during the life of the system. [Pg.1975]

This case study concerns the initial design and redesign of a security cover assembly for a solenoid. The analysis only focuses on those critical aspects of the assembly of the product that must be addressed to meet the requirement that the electronics inside the unit are sealed from the outside environment. An FMEA Severity Rating (S) for the assembly was determined as S = 5, a warranty return if failure is experienced. [Pg.92]

If utilities are supplied to the new project from some other source, the cost and amount must be determined. If purchased from a second party, the cost will be determined by contract and can be estimated by discussions with the vendor. If utilities are transferred from an affiliated source, the cost must include a profit to the supplying entity. Some estimators use a lower return on utility plants than on a new hydrocarbon processing unit, since the utility can be used for some alternate plant if the new one shuts down for any reason. However, the preferred analysis allows a high enough utility transfer price to provide the same return on the utilities as the new unit being studied. This can require a trial and error approach, especially if the utilities are a significant part of the selling price of the product. [Pg.239]

A method used to test the potential of new products is the contolled experiment- using prototypes, alpha models, etc. distributed to a sample of known users. Over a limited period these users try out the product and compile a report, which is returned to the company for analysis. [Pg.142]

To establish the well drainage boundaries and fluid flow patterns within the TFSA-waterflood pilot, an interwell chemical tracer study was conducted. Sodium thiocyanate was selected as the tracer on the basis of its low adsorption characteristics on reservoir rocks (36-38), its low and constant background concentration (0.9 mg/kg) in produced fluids and its ease and accuracy of analysis(39). On July 8, 1986, 500 lb (227 kg) of sodium thiocyanate dissolved in 500 gal (1.89 m3> of injection brine (76700 mg/kg of thiocyanate ion) were injected into Well TU-120. For the next five months, samples of produced fluids were obtained three times per week from each production well. The thiocyanate concentration in the produced brine samples were analyzed in duplicate by the standard ferric nitrate method(39) and in all cases, the precision of the thiocyanate determinations were within 0.3 mg/kg. The concentration of the ion in the produced brine returned to background levels when the sampling and analysis was concluded. [Pg.582]

A number of the previously cited investigators3->2>5 9 have employed UV spectroscopy as an analytical tool for following PC degradation. We have found the measurement of UV spectra of weathered PC films by difference from an unexposed reference sample to be an extremely simple and useful analytical method. This nondestructive analysis allows the repetitive return of a sample to the exposure conditions and thus enables one to essentially perform continuous analyses on the same sample. This technique, of course, will not detect the formation of non-chromophoric products such as aliphatic oxidation products which may form during the degradation. [Pg.97]

A victim of phosgene gas during the war, Dupont had been returned from the front and assigned to work in the factories of Trefileries du Havre, where he created a laboratory of research and analysis for the production of steel and metal alloys. He was unusual among French academic scientists in his interest in industrial processes, and later, as an administrator in the CNRS, he pressed for better links between the universities and industry in France.46... [Pg.168]
