Resource pooling

Availability and scalability A service does not know how many clients will use it and when. It has to be very resource efficient and able to handle unpredictable user load. Caching and resource pooling should be used more widely in these systems. It should also be deployed into a clustered environment. There also must be a monitoring and alerting mechanism to make sure it is always in a healthy state. [Pg.42]

In planta, the CKX activity is affected by molecular components of the local metabolic resource pool that can serve as electron acceptors directly or after oxidative modification [72]. Favorable redox environment in cell or in the apoplast may allow the enzyme to work at maximum rate. However, it is still questionable, how its high catalytic power is used and if really needed for the depletion of active cytokinins in vivo. The most active CKX enzymes, AtCKX2 and AtCKX4 in Arabidopsis, act on the cytokinins in apoplast, where the concentration of cytokinins reflects the balance of accumulation via local synthesis and transport. [Pg.225]

The resource view is similar to the organization view. It describes tesotrrces used by the processes to fulfill the company s business functions. Three mtiin objects are defined in the tesotrrce view model resource type object, resource pool object, tmd resource entity object. Resource type object describes the company s resource according to the resource classification. The resource type object inherits the attributes from its parent object. A resource classification tree is created to describe the company s resource. The resource pool object describes resources in a certain area. All the resources located at this area form a resource pool. Resource entity object defines the atomic resources. An atomic resource is some kind of resource that cannot be decomposed further—that is, the smallest resource entity. [Pg.510]

Embodied energy in plastic material can be compared to that for other materials" as shown in Table 4.6. Plastics are more energy intensive to produce than most materials of construction in the table except for aluminum. Like aluminum, plastics also have to be removed from a finite in-ground resource pool and have to be refined before use both can be recycled as well. [Pg.99]

Figure 8.2 Simple model. This figure depicts the compartment model, which is comprised of plants Pi), which are the primary producers, herbivores (H/), carnivores (Q), human households (HH), and a resource pool and inaccessible resource pool (RP, IRP). Figure 8.4 The integrated economic—ecological model. This figure depicts the compartment model, which is comprised of piants (P,), which are the primary producers, herbivores (H/), carnivores (C,), human households (HH), and a resource pool and inaccessible resource pool (RP, IRP). The arrows represent the mass flows from one compartment (origination) to another compartment (termination), and all living compartments have an implied flow back to the resource pool that represents death. IS is the industrial sector, whereas EP and ES are the energy producers and the energy source compartment, respectively [14]. Figure 8.4 The integrated economic—ecological model. In this particular case study, the lowest COG/g occurred at a pooling interval of 15 days. Hence, one may conclude that based on this performance metric, the company has to pool the broth every 15 days given the particular DSP equipment scale and operating conditions. The number of QC/QA staff could be reduced since the utilisation curve shows that the staff resource pool is not fully utilised most of the time. [Pg.1113]

Formulating the Design Space. More specifically, a resource pool is a set of hardware resources (e.g. implementations of models) with an upper-bound on the number of instances of each type of hardware resources that the user allows in the final implementation. A resource binding is a matching of the operations (i.e. the vertices of the sequencing graph) to specific resources in the... [Pg.189]

Results for example are given in Table 1. Because of the chosen instance, R02, R03 R06 and R07 are defined in 0,1 whereas R05 resources in resource pool P, are in 0,m. ROl (the evacuation procedure) is coded in l,l)- 0.2,l since experts judge that 20% of the mission is realized if ROl is missing. [Pg.956]
