Resource types

As stated by Reason (Reason, 1997), the active failures resulting in precursors and the latent conditions cause the holes in the safety barriers, leading to an accident. The active failures result in precursors which were identified, while the latent conditions were roughly divided into information flows and resources types. The latent conditions explain why precursors still exist. They also explain the holes in the safety barriers. Subsequently, the identified types of latent conditions are used to check if they affect the identified safety barriers. The safety barriers can be affected negatively, positively or not at all, by the identified types of latent conditions.

A few words of note As this chapter covers only one topic, it is organized by resource type databases, Web sites, tutorials, reports, journals, and books. 

The resource view is similar to the organization view. It describes tesotrrces used by the processes to fulfill the company s business functions. Three mtiin objects are defined in the tesotrrce view model resource type object, resource pool object, tmd resource entity object. Resource type object describes the company s resource according to the resource classification. The resource type object inherits the attributes from its parent object. A resource classification tree is created to describe the company s resource. The resource pool object describes resources in a certain area. All the resources located at this area form a resource pool. Resource entity object defines the atomic resources. An atomic resource is some kind of resource that cannot be decomposed further—that is, the smallest resource entity. 

Resource utilization flexibility A term used in GSPT to describe situations in which there is more than one possible source of a given performance resource type, that is, redundant supplies exist.
