Resin impregnation

The dimensions of resin baths are restricted to minimize the volume of catalyzed resin and can be heated to control the resin viscosity to promote fiber wetting, although this will reduce the working life of the bath. To facilitate lacing up, the roller assembly in the resin bath is manufactured in two parts—a lower fixed set of rollers submerged in the resin bath and a moveable upper set, under which the fiber is positioned. The assembly is then pressed down to push the fiber into the bath to contact with the lower set of rollers. This system facilitates an easy lace-up procedure and ensures good compaction to expel all air and promote fiber wetting. Alternatively, the fiber can be passed over a drum upon which the correct amount of resin has been metered and adjusted by a doctor blade. [Pg.911]

Oligomeric 2-ChloroethylPhosphate. Akzo s Fyrol 99 [109640-81-5] is produced either by self-condensation of tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (82) or by insertion of phosphoms pentoxide into this phosphate (82) followed by ethoxylation. It is low in volatihty and useful in resin-impregnated air filters, in flexible urethane foam, rebonded foam, and stmctural foam. [Pg.477]

The most common supported tubes are those with membranes cast in place (Fig. 17). These porous tubes are made of resin-impregnated fiber glass, sintered polyolefins, and similar materials. Typical inside diameters are ca 25 mm. The tubes are most often shrouded to aid in permeate collection and reduce airborne contamination. [Pg.302]

Resistance to chemical attack is generally improved by resin impregnation, which protects the underlying wood and reduces movement of Hquid into the wood. Resistance to acids can be obtained by impregnating with phenoHc resin and to alkaHes by impregnating with furfural resin (see Phenolic RESINs). [Pg.329]

Heat resistance is improved markedly by resin impregnation. A block of impreg, subjected to forty-five 1-h exposures at 204°C, showed no apparent loss in properties, although an untreated sample showed signs of deterioration after three 1-h exposures (71). [Pg.330]

Decorative laminates have a core or base of Kraft paper impregnated with a phenolic resin. A printed pattern layer impregnated with a melamine-formaldehyde or urea-thiourea-formaldehyde resin is then laid on the core and on top of this a melamine resin-impregnated protective translucent outer sheet. The assembly is then cured at 125-150°C in multi-daylight presses in the usual way. [Pg.688]

Dust and fume masks eonsist of one or two eartridges eontaining a suitable filter (e.g. paper or resin-impregnated wool) to remove partieulate eontaminant. The effieieney of the filters against partieles of various sizes is quoted in manufaeturers literature and national standards. Sueh masks do not remove vapour from the air. [Pg.434]

Process whereby layers of resin-impregnated fabrics are built up one layer at a time onto the mold surface, forming the product. Little or no pressure is required for laminate curing. [Pg.130]

The resins known as DAP and DAIP, are cross linked allyl esters of phthalic and rsophthalic acid, respectively. They are notable for rigidity and excellent electrical properties at temperatures up to 4.50" F. Allylic resin-impregnated glass cloth is used in aircraft and missile parl.s. Other... [Pg.278]

Impervious graphites, that is electro-graphites with appropriate resin impregnation are used in cascade-, shell- apd tube-type coolers, condensers, pre-heaters etc. in a wide variety of chemical plants. Similar resistance to corrosion applies to glassy carbon vessels and pyrolytic carbons and graphites. The corrosion resistance to principal chemical agents is given in Table 18.2. [Pg.867]

The basic materials are sufficiently stable in sulfuric acid not to require the expensive phenolic resin impregnation. Traces of adhesive are applied to hold the glass mat in order to achieve the total thickness. This separation system may be expensive to manufacture, a fact certainly largely balanced by savings in positive active mass, but it also has some indisputable advantages. [Pg.268]
