Argonaut-Biotage offer the ArgoScoop Resin Dispenser , a pre-calibrated scoop with variable volume. In addition, simple resin-dispensing plate-based devices are available in various sizes from Mettler Toledo, Radleys (Titan), SciGene, and aapptech. These devices allow simultaneous addition of pre-determined amounts of resin to up to 96 reaction vessels of a reaction block (Fig. 13). 

Zinsser market automated resin dispensers that employ powder dispensing technology borrowed from the pharmaceutical industry. As a stand-alone device (REDI) or integrated in a standard pipetting robot (LIFOS, Eig. 13), a vacuum pipette with adjustable tips is used that is available in various sizes. Typical reproducibility is specified at 2 % for 50 mg and 1 % for 150 mg of support With one tip, resin can be dispensed, for example, into the 96 wells of a microtiter plate within about 15 min. 

The plastic bottle and dispensing tip is made of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) resin, which provides the necessary flexibility and inertness. Because these components are in contact with the product during its shelf life, they must be carefully chosen and tested for their suitability for ophthalmic use. In addition to stability studies on the product in the container over a range of normal and accelerated temperatures, the plastic resins must pass the USP biological and chemical tests for... 

Udel is a slightly yellow but transparent engineering thermoplastic. It has low flammability and smoke emission and good electrical properties. It has excellent resistance to water, steam, and alkaline solutions. Specific uses for Udel include microwave cookware, beverage dispensers, coffee brewers, cookware, hair dryers, com poppers, and steam table trays. Its steam resistance makes it particularly fit for a dishwasher environment. Properties of polysulfone resins are given in Table 11. 

The mess factor or dispensing a liquid resin onto a preform or mat is eliminated. 

The hbraries were constructed using the Irori system. For the 10,000-member library, MicroKans were filled with BAL resin by suspending the resin in an isobuoyant suspension (DMF DCE 2 1) and dispensing it with a Packard Multiprobe liquid handler. For focused libraries, where one amine is converted to ca. 80 analogs, 80 polypropylene fritted vessels or wells of a 96-deepwell plate are charged with 80 different TFP reagents. The focused library is obtained following incubation of the dispensed resins with one amine and workup as described above. Analytical data are collected on all the members of the library. 

It is convenient to produce ca. 10 fj,M of product per well by dispensing ca. 12-15 mg of TFP-activated resin per well, assuming a loading of ca. 0.95 mmol/g and an 80-90% reaction yield. This quantity of product is sufficient for evaluation in multiple biological assays. 

Ethylenethiourea has a wide variety of uses in addition to vulcanization, a principal application since 1948. The curing process converts most of the ETU to other compounds, but traces of it are still found in the rubbers. Neoprene (polychloroprene) is found largely in automotive parts, wire and cable insulation, construction and adhesives. Consumer products containing neoprenes include container seals (e.g., aerosol dispensers) and shoes. It is also an intermediate in the manufacture of antioxidants, dyes, fungicides, insecticides, pharmaceuticals, synthetic resins, and a constituent of plating baths.
