The definition of heavy oil is usually based on API gravity or viscosity, but the definition is quite arbitrary. Although there have been attempts to rationalize the definition based on viscosity, API gravity, and density (2,3), such definitions, based on physical properties, are inadequate, and a more precise definition would involve some reference to the recovery method.

The definitions above are an abbreviated version of those used in a veiy complex and financially significant exercise with the ultimate goal of estimating resei ves and generating production forecasts in the petroleum industry. Deterministic estimates are derived largely from pore volume calculations to determine volumes of either oil nr gas in-place (OIP, GIP). This volume when multiplied by a recovery factor gives a recoverable quantity of oil or natural gas liquids—commonly oil in standard barrels or natural gas in standard cubic feet at surface conditions. Many prefer to use barrels of oil equivalency (BOE) or total hydrocarbons tor the sum of natural gas, natural gas liquids (NGL), and oil. For comparison purposes 6,000 cubic feet of gas is considered to be equivalent to one standard barrel on a British thermal unit (Btu) basis (42 U.S. gallons). 

Psychosocial and environmental factors play a major role in the development and recovery from opioid dependence however, a detailed discussion is beyond the scope of this chapter. Resilin and elastin, unlike other structural proteins, fulfill both definitions of an elastic material. Colloquially speaking, resilin and elastin are stretchy or flexible. By definition, the determinative procedure must be able to quantify the concentration of the marker residue. For compounds with a tolerance, it is critical that the analysis be able to determine accurately if the concentration of the marker residue is above or below the tolerance in the target tissue. The CVM guidelines for determinative procedures call for an average recovery >80% with a coefficient of variation (CV) of <10% for marker residue tolerances of lOOpgkg or greater and an average recovery of >60% with a CV of <20% for marker residues with a tolerance below 100 ppb. 

To demonstrate the validity of an analytical method, data regarding working range/ calibration, recovery, repeatability, specificity and LOQ have to be provided for each relevant sample matrix. Most often these data have to be collected from several studies, e.g., from several validation reports of the developer of the method, the independent laboratory validation or the confirmatory method trials. If the intended use of a pesticide is not restricted to one matrix type and if residues are transferred via feedstuffs to animals and finally to foodstuffs of animal origin, up to 30 sets of the quality parameters described above are necessary for each analyte of the residue definition. Table 2 can be used as a checklist to monitor the completeness of required data. 

It is apparent that the Hartree-Fock level is characterized by an enormous average deviation from experiment, but standard post-HF methods for including correlation effects such as MP2 and QCISD also err to an extent that renders their results completely useless for this kind of thermochemistry.
