2 Recent Trends in Cell Factory Construction for Bioprocessing 

Recent technical advances in strain/pathway construction have moved the limiting step from strain construction to screening. Those advances are, among others, affordable gene synthesis, synthetic construction of gene libraries (Collier et al., 2009 Bott et al., 2012), and novel techniques for DNA assembly (e.g., Engler et al., 2008 Gibson et al., 2009).
