Rate counter

The best compromise seems to be fast- rotation for the crystal and slow or no rotation for the crucible. Of all the possible methods of stirring the melt, the static-crucible method seems to be the best, and this is the method used by most crystal-growers. The next best method seems to be rotating the crucible at a slow rate, counter to the direction of the crystal rotation. It is clear that crystal- rotation needs to dominate the stirring pattern so that mixing of the melt continues while the crystal is growing. [Pg.268]

Quinidine has anticholinergic properties that can result in the blockade of impulses from the vagus nerve to the heart. This would prevent the slowing of the heart rate that is ordinarily produced by normal vagal stimulation. The resulting increased heart rate counters the direct depressant effect on the pacemaker. This can understandably complicate therapy from the clinical standpoint. The effectiveness of quinidine and procainamide treatment can be traced on ECG by the increase in the Q-T interval, which can be attributed to the increased duration of systole, as well as decreased intraventricular conduction velocity. [Pg.486]

The next best method seems to be rotating the crucible at a slow rate, counter to the direction of the crystal rotation. It is clear that crystal-rotation needs to dominate the stirring pattern so that mixing of the melt continues while the crystal is growing. [Pg.287]

In most TCSPC modules, rate counters complement the CFDs in the photon pulse and reference charmels of TCSPC devices. The CFDs of the photon channel and the reference charmel are often different. The photon ehannel is designed for lowest amplitude-induced timing jitter and the reference ehannel for highest trigger rate. Some TCSPC devices do not use a CFD in the referenee charmel at all and rely instead on the stability of the reference pulses. [Pg.49]

Ammonia is conveniently obtained from a cylinder of the Uquefled gas the cylinder must be equipped with a reducing valve. The rate of flow of the gas may be determined by passage through a bubble counter containing a small volume of concentrated potassium hydroxide solution (12 g. of KOH in 12 ml. of water). A safety bottle should be inserted between the cylinder and the reaction vessel. [Pg.184]

In this work hybrid method is suggested to determine anionic surfactants in waters. It is based on preconcentration of anionic surfactants as their ion associates with cationic dyes on the membrane filter and measurement of colour intensity by solid-phase spectrophotometry method. Effect of different basic dyes, nature and hydrophobicity of anionic surfactants, size of membrane filter pores, filtration rate on sensitivity of their determination was studied. Various cationic dyes, such as Methylene Blue, Crystal Violet, Malachite Green, Rhodamine 6G, Safranin T, Acridine Yellow were used as counter ions. The difference in reflection between the blank and the sample was significant when Crystal Violet or Rhodamine 6G or Acridine Yellow were used. [Pg.267]

To produce a moulding composition, aniline is first treated with hydrochloric acid to produce water-soluble aniline hydrochloride. The aniline hydrochloride solution is then run into a large wooden vat and formaldehyde solution is run in at a slow but uniform rate, the whole mix being subject to continuous agitation. Reaction occurs immediately to give a deep orange-red product. The resin is still a water-soluble material and so it is fed into a 10% caustic soda solution to react with the hydrochloride, thus releasing the resin as a creamy yellow slurry. The slurry is washed with a counter-current of fresh water, dried and ball-milled. [Pg.690]
