Rumex species are widely used locally for the control of intestinal helminthic conditions. There are five Rumex species in Kenya - Rumex abyssinicus, R. usambarense, R. bequaertii, R. ruwenzoriensis and R. crispus, according to their grouping in the Key to Species .
