A similar design has been developed using a 161 MW plant by The Dow Chemical Company in its Plaquemine, Louisiana location. Destec, Inc. is a power subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company and has joined with PubHc Service Of Indiana to build a new 230 MW plant near Terre Haute, Indiana. Operation is projected for 1995 (95). 

Demography is, by nature, a multidisciplinary field. Few areas of government and industry are not affected by population change in some way. Changes in age ranges, femily types, sex ratios, and migration patterns have an impact on pubhc services of aU kinds as well as the types of products and services that can be sold to the members of a population. 

As part of the Robens approach, pohcy making in OHS has passed from a traditional pubhc service department to a body with representation from government, the unions, employers, and, in some cases, independent experts. In the Canadian Province of Alberta, for example, S.6 of the OHS Act sets np an OHS Council. The USA has not generalfy adopted the Robens principles, bnt does have under S.7 of the OSH Act a multipartite National Advisory Committee on OSH. 

Above all other factors in the CSRE s demise, however, was its success in forcing changes in the IEEE, which split those who saw professionalism as the best means to pubHc service from those who beHeved only opposition could bring change. In 1972 the IEEE rejected the CSRE s petition... 

Note that in addition, some cash transfer programs require beneficiaries to provide a certain amount of pubhc service. These are not really workfare programs, but something in between cash transfers and workfare.

In 1982, the European Space Agency s Information Retrieval Service (ESA/IRS) introduced the ZOOM command, providing users with a mechanism to analy2e retrieved sets. The latest government regulations set forth under the Toxic Substances Control Act and in PubHc Health Service pubHcations should be checked before formulating new lubricants. Users of lubricants should request Material Safety Data Sheets for each substance involved plus certification of compliance from vendors. Lubricant compounders should insist on similar information from their suppHers for any additive packages. Manufacturers of both additives and lubricants commonly make toxicity checks on commercial products.

The FDA is headed by the Commissioner of Food and Dmgs. This position is not a Cabiaet-level office but falls within the PubHc Health Service (PHS), a division within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The post of FDA Commissioner is subject to HHS pohtical clearance and Senate confirmation, and the Commissioner is ultimately accountable to HHS, Congress, and the President of the United States. The Commissioner has a staff to assist ia poHcy making and several deputy commissioners to oversee operation of ah. the subordinate units. FDA has six regional offices within the country, each responsible for a section of the country, and 21 district offices. Persons with technical background typicahy work ia one of FDA s chemistry laboratories or as investigators or consumer safety officers.
