Process enhancement

In both cases heat is taken from the exhaust gases to feed the reaction process, enhancing the heating value of the resulting modified fuel, which is then fed to the combustion chamber. But the main thermodynamic feature is that the exergy loss in the final exhaust gas is thus reduced and the efficiency increased. [Pg.149]

Lipid peroxidation is another free radical-mediated process enhanced in diabetes mellitus. It should be noted that some data obtained in animal models of diabetes could be misleading and not related to real diabetic state. For example, the enhanced intracellular generation of hydroxyl radicals has been shown in widely applied streptozotocin-induced model of diabetes in rats [121]. However, Lubec et al. [122] later showed that streptozotocin itself and not the diabetic state is responsible for the formation of hydroxyl radicals in this model. [Pg.924]

HPLC conditions resulting in co-elution of all the M2D-C3-0-(EO) -Me oligomers were used in the quantitative analyses. This was found to simplify the quantitation (data processing), enhance the detection levels, and reduce analysis time down to 9 min. This method... [Pg.245]

The addition of powdered-activated carbon (PAC) to the activated sludge process has received considerable attention, particularly with respect to the removal of specific organics. The applicability of activated carbon in removing specific substrates depends on the molecular weight, solubility, polarity, location of functional groups, and overall molecular configuration. Investigations of PAC systems have centered around process enhancement factors. These include ... [Pg.250]

When polymerization proceeds in the presence of modifiers, the mechanochemical process enhances cross-linking and, correspondingly, improves the physicochemical properties of final plastics. For example, mechanochemical treatment of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic in the presence of tolnene diisocyanate improves thermal oxidative stability of the plastic (Chetverikov et al. 2002). [Pg.284]

The importance of temperature control of the GPC column cannot be overstated. The use of temperatures above ambient results in lower mobile-phase viscosity, which in turn reduces the back pressure generated by the column. Column life is prolonged, and in some cases higher flow rates may be employed. The reduction in mobile-phase viscosity improves both the rate and efficiency of mass transfer processes, enhancing column performance. While... [Pg.202]

Also, supernatant solution in the Bayer liquor still contains an appreciable amount of soluble aluminum salt that needs to be removed by electrolysis prior to gallium recovery. This may be done either by treating the solution with lime to precipitate out calcium aluminate or by neutralizing the solution with carbon dioxide to precipitate alumina hydrate (Hudson, L.K. 1965. J. Metals, 17, pp. 948-51). Removal of most aluminum by these processes enhances the concentration of gallium in the solution to a level of approximately 0.1% whereupon the solution may be electrolyzed using an anode, cathode, and cell made of stainless steel. [Pg.308]

The CFX MiniFix technology is categorized as a chemical fixation/stabilization process. The patented process, enhanced by additional proprietary developments, stabilizes mobile constituents within a waste matrix by ntiUzing the chemical reactions between complex silicates. The reactions solidify and stabilize the wastes into a claylike product that is suitable for either on-site or landfill disposal. The matrix-forming chemistry is assisted as needed by reaction-promoting additives. [Pg.451]

When compared with direct compression results, the dry granulation processes enhance the flow of the powder and decrease the variability of the AUC, the major response. Nevertheless, this variability and the variability of the drug dissolved at 8 h (T7) are greater than the fixed optimal values, particularly for the compaction processes. From the results it is seen that the wet granulation process gave a powder presenting an adequate or better result than the other processes ... [Pg.60]
