Hitech Olympus Cue-3 is a color image analysis system with a wide range of image enhancement and processing capabilities. 

Phenylhydrazine was used for images enhanced by the NOE at natural abundance. As in the case of aniline, proton exchange leads to nearly complete collapse of the N-H couplings for both the NH and NH2 groups. The two groups are different, however, in that the process is more rapid for the NH2 than for the NH group and so leads to a narrower N line (16 Hz at 20 °C) compared with the NH2 value of 80 Hz in the single-resonance experiment. The NOE values are nearly equal at a value of about —2.9, and the T values for N were measured as 8.40 0.1 s (for NH) and 3.91 0.01 s (for NH2). 

Deckert and coworkers reported near-field surface-enhanced Raman imaging of dye-labeled DNA [117]. Similarly to the work of Emory and Nie [113], the authors resorted to the concept of increasing the Raman cross section by using the resonance Raman and the surface enhancement processes provided by the adsorbate and the substrate. These processes boost the near-field Raman processes up to a detectable level solely because they are cooperative. The high spatial resolution of some surface sites led the authors to identify these as special surface sites with particularly high SERS enhancement resembling the so-called hot spots often encountered in SERS.

Vision enhancement systems have already appeared on the market, but are often limited to providing image enhancement. It is anticipated that they will gradually incorporate more options for the image processing. Vision substitution systems already exist, mainly as developments of electronic mobility devices, but it is likely to be some years before they come into widespread use. They will need to be accompanied by appropriate training. 

We have discussed the need for examining specimens close to their native state by cryo-EM and shown that high-resolution, hut noisy, images result. After data analysis and image enhancement by computer processing, a three-dimensional reconstruction can he determined. We now present that state of the art with some of the highlights that have been achieved to date.
