Primary Contact Point

EEIS follows a strategy that Erst identifies a key institution which has a proven capability in information management and an existing information programme (including staff and budget) as well as the ability to function as an information service to industry in the national context. Such a centre is the project s main liaison for the system in that country and is designated the Primary Contact Point (PCP). [Pg.54]

It is one of the chief responsibilities of the Primary Contact Point to help build the EEIS network within the country by identifying and entering into working arrangements with between 10 and 15 other organizations which have direct association with SMIs. Such organizations could inter alia include trade associations. Chambers of Commerce, local administrative offices and environmental consulting companies. [Pg.54]

In sintering, the green compact is placed on a wide-mesh belt and slowly moves through a controlled atmosphere furnace (Fig. 3). The parts are heated to below the melting point of the base metal, held at the sintering temperature, and cooled. Basically a solid-state process, sintering transforms mechanical bonds, ie, contact points, between the powder particles in the compact into metallurgical bonds which provide the primary functional properties of the part. [Pg.178]

It is essential to develop contacts within both companies to create an atmosphere of two-way communication. The toller should feel comfortable in asking for advice or assistance and this is best achieved by building rapport with their primary contacts from their client company. After an audit, the points of contact can be assigned responsibility for ensuring completion of individual action items. [Pg.115]

We recommend first that DoD consolidate authority for all its relationships with FDA related to drugs and biologies for CBW defense into a single OSD office. The two candidates for this responsibility are the ASD(HA) and the DATSD(CBD). Health Affairs lacks authority for research and development and acquisition it is therefore a poor candidate for being the primary OSD point of contact with FDA on acquisition-related issues. The primary FDA-related function of ASD(HA) for CBW defense is to determine the medical indications of use, both for licensed drugs and IND-classified drugs. Therefore, we conclude that Health Affairs should remain the primary OSD authority for this purpose. Moreover, it would encounter an institutional... [Pg.15]

Clearly, depends on the volume fraction of the dispersion, as well as the particle size distribution (which determines the number of contact points in a floe). Therefore, for quantitative comparison between various systems, it must be ensured that the volume fraction of the disperse particles is the same, and that the dispersions have very similar particle size distributions. also depends on the strength of the flocculated structure - that is, the energy of attraction between the droplets - and this in turn depends on whether the flocculation is in the primary or secondary minimum. Flocculation in the primary minimum is associated with a large attractive energy, and this leads to higher values of when compared to values obtained for secondary minimum flocculation (weak flocculation). For a weakly flocculated dispersion, as is the case for the secondary minimum flocculation of an electrostatically stabilised system, the deeper the secondary minimum the higher the value of (at any given volume fraction and particle size distribution of the dispersion). [Pg.455]

Abrasive wear takes place when two hard materials are brought into contact without bonding, when the primary damage is associated with mechanical interlocking (shear of asperities) and the generation of Herzian cone-cracks surrounding the contact points [115, 116],... [Pg.92]

The activity of various natural silicates for the elimination of low concentrations (< 10% vol) of H2S from gaseous streams is related to their pore size distribution. In order to follow more easily the changes in macroporosity produced by the resulting sulphur, the authors propose the use of Ig-probability paper, from which the usual parameters, mean, mode and median values and standard deviation of the pore radius can be estimated. The deposition of sulphur is related to the number of contact points among particles and related void space, the exposed surface and the shape and size of the primary particles involved. [Pg.747]
