Pressurized fluids, coupled processing

Tube hydroforming (THF) process is based on the introduction of a pressurized fluid coupled with an axial compression in a tubular workpiece. [Pg.676]

Figure 6 presents simulated changes in mean stress and fluid pressure at 18 00 on October 25, which is at the end of one-day shift, when the excavation had reached 61 m (Figure 1). Figure 6b shows that the fluid pressure has increased in two zones a zone around the front-left side of the excavation and a zone above the excavation, near its front. Figure 6a shows that near these two zones of pressure increase the mean stress has increased as a result of the excavation. In contrast, the fluid pressure on the side of the drift has decreased where the mean stress has decreased. This shows that HM coupled processes induce these changes in fluid pressure. [Pg.135]

The process of pressure-porosity diffusion, the fourth solution mentioned in Section 7, requires solid-fluid coupling to exist. If the pore liquid cannot flow, as is likely in the case of ductile smectitic shales (Dusseault 2003), or if the liquid is present as a fully occluded phase so that it is in the form of liquid bubbles in the solid mineral, as in a vesicular basalt, the wave cannot exist. This also... [Pg.518]

The processes can be considered as three initially independent processes. These include the undrained load-deformaiion-failure process and the fluid and heat flow processes. The fluid flow process may include solute transport. Other mechanisms include swelling of shale caused by change in water potential resulting from the other processes. The main coupling parameters are stress, pore pressure and temperature. [Pg.581]

Toward this end, we have investigated tandem or coupled processes that embodied the use of pressurized fluids, namely carbon dioxide, for both extraction, fiactionation and reaction. Related exanqrles to the work described here are coupling supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) with production scale supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) for the enrichment of high value tocopherols from natural botanical sources (/0), or subcritical water hydrolysis of vegetable oils (77) followed 1 partition into dense carbon dioxide to produce industrially-useM mixtures of tty acids. [Pg.107]

The field development imposes dramatic changes in fluid processing at the GCs. As a result, the amount of GC process equipment will more than double, correspondingly, the number of modules will be doubled as shown on the plot plan. Figure 9. The control system requires expansion proportionate to the amount of new equipment. Although this new equipment will be in new modules, it cannot be treated independently because it is closely coupled and highly interactive with the rest of the process. The low pressure separation project will add new first stage gas/oil separators which... [Pg.60]

In order to overcome the main limitations of the impregnation processes, connected to the limited solubility of the compounds in the supercritical fluids, Perman [68] proposed an alternative method. A supercritical impregnation process was coupled with a liquid solvent (preferentially water) to enhance the drug solubilization. The system composed of a liquid drug solution and the polymeric support was pressurized with the supercritical fluid. Consequently, the swelled polymer allows rapid diffusional transport of the solute into the polymeric substrate. In different examples, bovine serum albumin microspheres were impregnated with insulin, trypsin and gentamicin (see Table 9.9-5). [Pg.622]

Proper mechanical design principles determine the option of cantilevered or centerhung rotor, the shaft diameter, the type and position of bearings, and seal design. The drive train, whether belt driven or direct coupled, is determined by the power requirements and the shaft orientation. The housing must be sufficient to contain the temperature and pressure of the operation and to provide adequate inlet and outlet nozzles for the process fluids. [Pg.74]
