Preservatives production water

Specifications and Packaging. Aluminum chloride s catalytic activity depends on its purity and particle size. Moisture contamination is an important concern and exposure to humid air must be prevented to preserve product integrity. Moisture contamination can be deterrnined by a sample s nonvolatile material content. After subliming, the material remaining is principally nonvolatile aluminum oxide. Water contamination leads to a higher content of nonvolatile material. [Pg.148]

Bisphenol A Production of resins (polycarbonate and epoxy resins). Component in flame retardant production Antioxidant, preservative - River water mean values 0.016 pg L 1 (Europe) and 0.5 pg L"1 (US) [66]. -SW <0.001-1 pg U1 [9] - WW effluents mean values 1.5 pg L-1 [67] Not persistent in surface water. Rapidly biodegraded in aquatic environments [68] and removed in WWTP. Half-life 1-4 days [69] in water. Accumulated in anoxic sediments [9]... [Pg.131]

A widely used biocide and preservation product is formaldehyde. Solutions of formaldehyde in water, called formalin, were used for disinfection and conservation, for example, of biological samples for display. Bound formaldehyde is released in small amounts from common easy-care and durable press finishes (Chapter 5). Therefore these finishes include - at least until they are washed - a small antimicrobial side effect. This can also be true for some quaternary compounds, for example wet fastness improvers and softeners. But for more effective requirements specific antimicrobial finishes are necessary. [Pg.167]

Nitromethylidynetrimethanol Nitr-otris(hydroxymethyl)methane NSC 17675 S.S.T Sump Saver Tablets Trihydroxymethylnitromethane Trimethyl-olnitromethane Tris-Nitro Tris(hydroxy-methyl)nitro-methane. Antibacterial agent, preservative for water treatment, metalworking fluids, oil production, de-odorizing formaldehyde releaser. Used as a bactericide in pesticide products and consumer products, building materials or furnishings. Registered by EPA as an antimicrobial and disinfectant. Crystals mp = 165° bp dec very soluble in H2O (220 g/100 ml), EtOH, EtsO. Dow Chew. U.S.A. Hess Clark Inc. Whittaker Clark Daniels. [Pg.330]

Wood preservation is based on various fundamental principles, e.g., construction aspects such as exposure to humidity, selection of different types of wood products according to their durability, and chemistry of wood preservatives. Important groups of chemical wood preservatives are water-soluble and solvent-based substances. ... [Pg.953]

Butanolhemiformal may be used as a preservative for water based products with the advantage that the affinity of formaldehyde to w-butanol is stronger than in formalin to water. Additionally -butanolhemiformal can serve as a formulation aid (e.g. solvent) with antimicrobial effectiveness, for example, when a microbidde has to be formulated to a preservative. [Pg.58]

Storage of finished or intermediate aqueous functional fluids at varying temperatures will lead to condensation of preservative-free water in the head space of the storage tank unless a volatile microbicide is used. The condensate will then rapidly become contaminated from its environment. Dripping back on to the surface of the stored product a layer of preservative free condensate forms which is highly susceptible to microbial growth. It is therefore advisable to use microbicides which exhibit head space activity or to store the protected aqueous fluids at more or less constant temperatures. [Pg.448]

Other systems using peroxidases, haloperoxidases and laccases for use as preservatives of water based paints, cosmetics, contact lenses and personal care products have been claimed (Johansen et al., 2000 Miller, 2000 Johansen, 2001). As many of the mentioned enzyme systems have an optimum pH for their activity, it remains questionable whether these systems are useful for a broad range of application in material protection, in particular for those applications requiring alkaline conditions. [Pg.41]

Used for the preservation of water and other liquids used in cooling processing systems by the control of harmful organisms such as microbes, algae and mussels (not drinking water preservation products). [Pg.72]

The causes of microbial spoilage may be both diverse and multifactorial the quality of product preservation, the microbiological quality of the raw materials used - in particular production water microbe content, packaging and manufacture, and user contamination. [Pg.265]

Product A non-metal lie, organic chemical, COSAN S is a highly effective anti-microbial preservative for water systems including adhesives, dispersed colors, protein colloids, and resin emulsions. [Pg.87]
