Preparation polymer complex method

In the last decade, a polymer complex method, corresponding to the sol-gel method, had been widely applied for the preparation of various mixed oxide compositions, including rare earth aluminates (Rao, 1996 Lo and Tseng, 1998). By using this technique, RAIO3 compounds of La Ho except for Ce and Pm can be... [Pg.122]

The preparation of oriented polymers by the method of the directed polymerization is of interest since it is possible to avoid the complex process of disentangling the macromolecules already packed randomly in the bulk of the unoriented polymer. However, methods involving conversion of these needle-shaped crystals into actual fibres have not yet been developed. [Pg.214]

Both stress-induced crystallization and orientational crystallization can be used for the preparation of polymer materials with mechanical property values (e.g. tenacities and elastic moduli) much higher than those for polymer films and fibers obtained by conventional processing. We believe that the advantage of orientational crystallization over more complex methods consists in the possibility of obtaining samples of elastic moduli and tenacities in a one-step continuous process. [Pg.244]

Derivatization reactions. In addition to changing the substituents in the primary precursor phosphines, (MegSi)2NPRR , two other approaches have been used to prepare polymers with more complex substituents attached to the backbone by direct P-C linkages. These are (a) alteration of R and R in the immediate N-silylphosphoranimine precursors, MegSiN=P(OOUCFo)RR , and (b) alteration of R and R in the preformed poly(alkyl/aryl-phosphazenes), (RR P=N]n. Some examples of the former method are described below and in other papers (21-23), while the use of the latter approach to prepare several silylated poly(alkyl/arylphosphazenes) has been recently reported. The organoboron polymer complex was prepared as follows. First, poly(organoboron halide)55 was prepared according to the reported method, by hydroboration polymerization between 1,7-octadiene and the monobromoborane dimethylsuffide complex. The polymer obtained was then reacted with half an equivalent of methanol and 1-methylimidazole to give the corresponding copolymer efficiently (scheme 4). The structure of the polymer was characterized by H- and UB-NMR spectra. [Pg.200]

In a previous publication [8] we described a systematic screening of the binary interactions between 36 polyanions and 40 polycations. As a result of this study it became clear that capsules prepared from simple binary polymer complexes would not be mechanically adequate and multicomponent polymer systems would offer advantages. The rationale for capsule improvement, and for the use of a multicomponent system, has been presented in the Introduction. We have elected to investigate the methods outlined in Sects. 1.2.7 and 1.2.8 (polymer... [Pg.60]

Other important methods of synthesis of coordination compounds are discussed in detail [1,3,10,11,53,201,202,206,207,316,318,322,690]. In this respect, we emphasize the synthesis of metal-polymers [690,691] and preparation of complexes in the solid phase (mechano- or tribosynthesis) [10,201,202,206]. Additionally to the above-described techniques, the general methods and principles of synthesis of coordination compounds are used to obtain metal-polymers (immediate interaction of polymer ligands and metal salts, template electrosynthesis, polymer-analogous transformations). The last method consists of the polymerization of metal-monomers (metal-containing monomers) and fixation of metal complexes on the polymer... [Pg.276]

The first example for Method 2 was reported by Nishide and co-workers, who polymerised a metal complex of 1-vinylimidazole with l-vinyl-2-pyrollidone and divinylbenzene [8]. The metal-vinylimidazole complex was copolymerised, cross-linked with l-vinyl-2-pyrollidone by y-ray irradiation and the template metal ion was removed by treating the polymer complex with an acid. These poly(vinyl-imidazole) (PVI) resins adsorbed metal ions more effectively than the PVI resin prepared without the template. The number of adsorption sites and the stability constant of the Ni(II) complex were larger for the PVI resin prepared with the Ni(II) template, as seen by the smaller dissociation rate constant of Ni(II) from the resin. [Pg.248]

Electropolymerization of 4-Vinylpyridine Complexes. Investigations of Structural and Electronic Influences on Thin Film Formation. The recent discovery of the reductive polymerization of complexes containing vinylpyridyl ligands (lg), such as Ru -(bpy)2(vpy)22+ has led to the preparation of homogeneous thin layers of very stable electroactive polymers. This method has been extended to 4-vinyl-4 -methyl-2,2 -bipyridine (lg, 21a) and 4-vinyl-l,10-phenanthroline (21b) on both ruthenium and iron. In the following section we discuss our results on thin films derived from the polymerizable ligands BPE and the trans-4 -X-stilbazoles, (4 -X-stilb X - Cl, OMe, CN and H). [Pg.171]

One of the interesting things about the redox polymers is their use in the creation of the molecular electronic devices.3-5 Redox polymer films on electrodes have been fabricated using chemical modification, electrochemical polymerization, polymer coating, and so on.88 Recently, stepwise complexation methods have been employed to fabricate multiple complex layers.89,90,91 In this section, the stepwise preparation of bis(tpy)metal polymer chains by combining terpyridine (tpy) ligand self-assembled monolayer (SAM) formation and metal-tpy coordination reactions is described as an example. This method realized the formation of a desired number of polymer units and a desired sequence of Co-Fe heterometal structures in the polymer chain.92... [Pg.391]
