Preparation for transport

ORM-C—A material which has other inherent characteristics not desribed as an ORM-A or ORM-B but which make it unsuitable for shipment, unless properly identified and prepared for transportation. Each ORM-C materials specifically named in Sec. 172.101. (Sec. 173.500 (a)(4))... 

Liquids and liquid solutions are vital to our lives. Of course, water is the most important liquid. Besides being essential to life, it provides a medium for food preparation, for transportation, for cooling in many types of machines and industrial processes, for recreation, for cleaning, and for a myriad of other uses. 

Thus, in the process of gas and condensate preparation for transportation the most common elements of equipment are separators, dividers, absorbers, heat exchangers and turboexpander aggregates. 

On gas fields with small debit, direct-flow spray absorbers that consist of several stages connected in series (see Fig. 2.19, a) are frequently used for the dehydration of gas from moisture, as the gas is being prepared for transportation. Each stage consists of a contact chamber and a separator. The absorbent (DEG) with the flow rate q is injected through the atomizer into the contact chamber. 

When ready for harvesting, the lower two to three rows of leaves (15-20 leaves) are cut from each plant manually, leaf by leaf, using machetes. Cut leaves, with spines trimmed off, are bundled in groups of 20-50, tied and prepared for transport to the decortication factory. It is important to extract the fiber from the leaf within 24-48 h after cutting otherwise, drying of the leaf makes extraction very difficult due to hardening of various gums therein. 

Each plan must include an assessment of possible transportation security risks for hazardous materials including site-specific or location-specific risks associated with facihties at which the materials are prepared for transport, stored, or unloaded incidental to movement, and appropriate measures to address them. Specific measures may vary depending upon the level of threat. At a minimum, the security plan must consist of the following elements ... 

Unauthorized Access — Measures to address the assessed risk that unauthorized persons may gain access to hazmat covered by the security plan or transport conveyances being prepared for transportation of materials covered by the security plan. 

The calculation of border prices for traded goods usually includes afi adjustment to take account of domestic transportation to a project or to the project s primary market. For exports, the f.o.b. price is the total cost expended to produce, transport to the border, and prepare for transportation outside the country of origin. For imports, the c.i.f. price is the landed cost of an import including insurance but net of any additional domestic tariffs or other taxes and fees. It should also be adjusted for internal transport costs or savings from the port of entry to the market if these costs are significantly different from domestic factory-to-market costs, and it may also be adjusted for additional inventory cost required to cover delays or lumpiness in supply compared to domestic shipments ...

The load should be prepared for transportation in such a way as to minimize the possibility of accidents. The hazards will be related to the nature of the load (e.g. substances which are flammable or hazardous to health) or the security and stability of the load (e.g. collapse of bales or incorrectly stacked pallets). 

Transfer of undamaged spent fuel cooled in organic coolant to Russia was finished in 1990. It was necessary to develop new technology for the damaged fuel preparation for transport. 

The accident leading to contamination of reactor hall during these tests occurred, so only 4 fuel assemblies were prepared for transport and were later transferred to Russia. The decontamination of reactor hall was provided in 1993 - 1996 under technical support of AEA Technology, the transfer of fuel was interrapted.
