A double time correlation among the 3 binary temporal sequences of a triplet of transducers are calculated. A maximum of 8 different but overlapping triplets can be predefined. [Pg.68]

Current cumulative number of AE events on each predefined transducer triplet ... [Pg.77]

The screen shows the predefined area to be scanned and filled to ensure maximum coverage The transmitter operates with a frequency of 40 kHz and with a pulse repetition frequency of 200 Hz. This gives the system an accuracy in positioning of better than 1 mm. [Pg.863]

Taking advantage of the synnnetry of the crystal structure, one can list the positions of surface atoms within a certain distance from the projectile. The atoms are sorted in ascending order of the scalar product of the interatomic vector from the atom to the projectile with the unit velocity vector of the projectile. If the collision partner has larger impact parameter than a predefined maximum impact parameter discarded. If a... [Pg.1811]

In this chapter, we look at the techniques known as direct, or on-the-fly, molecular dynamics and their application to non-adiabatic processes in photochemistry. In contrast to standard techniques that require a predefined potential energy surface (PES) over which the nuclei move, the PES is provided here by explicit evaluation of the electronic wave function for the states of interest. This makes the method very general and powerful, particularly for the study of polyatomic systems where the calculation of a multidimensional potential function is an impossible task. For a recent review of standard non-adiabatic dynamics methods using analytical PES functions see [1]. [Pg.251]

The program system COBRA [118, 119] can be regarded as a rule- and data-based approach, but also applies the principles of fragment-based (or template-based) methods extensively (for a detailed description sec Chapter 11, Sections 7.1 and 7.2 in the Handbook). COBRA uses a library of predefined, optimized 3D molecular fragments which have been derived from crystal structures and foi ce-field calculations. Each fi agment contains some additional information on... [Pg.98]

The REMARK 4-999 records contain other optional, but predefined, remarks, As shown above, the "REMARK 4 record specifies that the analyzed file conform fully with, the current (December 2002) version 2.2 of the PDB file format specification. [Pg.117]

The Self-defining Text Archive and Retrieval (STAR) file format addresses primarily the problem of the inflexibility of the PDB file format, its fixed sets of allowable fields, and their strong dependence on order, To overcome the problems described, both the data. structure and the actual data items within a STAR file arc self-defined, which means that they are preceeded by corresponding names (labels) which identify and describe the data. The data may be of any type and there is no predefined order of the data. STAR files, in contrast to PDB files, are easy to read and write manually. The whole syntax of STAR files is very simple and is defined by only a few rules ... [Pg.120]

Another method of detection of overfitting/overtraining is cross-validation. Here, test sets are compiled at run-time, i.e., some predefined number, n, of the compounds is removed, the rest are used to build a model, and the objects that have been removed serve as a test set. Usually, the procedure is repeated several times. The number of iterations, m, is also predefined. The most popular values set for n and m are, respectively, 1 and N, where N is the number of the objects in the primary dataset. This is called one-leave-out cross-validation. [Pg.223]

Thus, the conversion of chemical names into structures consists of parsing the name into longest text fragments. These fragments are submitted to lexical analysis and the derived lexical units are compared with a collection of predefined units in a dictionary. [Pg.294]

Each predefined unit is related to its adjacency matrix representation. Finally, the derived units are assembled thus, the structural information is derived from the compound name. [Pg.294]

In order to obtain the fragmental constants, sets of molecules for which experimental log P values are available are cut into the predefined fragments and the numerical contribution of each fragment is determined by multiple hnear regression analysis. [Pg.492]

The similarity of the retrieved protons to those of the query structure, and the distribution of chemical shifts among protons with the same HOSE codes, can be used as measures of prediction reliability. When common substructures cannot be found for a given proton (within a predefined number of bond spheres) interpolations are applied to obtain a prediction proprietary methods are often used in commercial programs. [Pg.522]

Choosing a standard GTO basis set means that the wave function is being described by a finite number of functions. This introduces an approximation into the calculation since an infinite number of GTO functions would be needed to describe the wave function exactly. Dilferences in results due to the quality of one basis set versus another are referred to as basis set effects. In order to avoid the problem of basis set effects, some high-accuracy work is done with numeric basis sets. These basis sets describe the electron distribution without using functions with a predefined shape. A typical example of such a basis set might... [Pg.80]

The force fields available are MM2, MM3, AMBER, OPLSA, AMBER94, and MMFF. The asterisk ( ) indicates force fields that use a modification of the original description in the literature. There is support for user-defined metal atoms, but not many metals are predefined. MM2 has atom types for describing transition structures. The user can designate a substructure for energy computation. [Pg.344]

The positive-ion electron-ionization spectra of BFB and DFTPP must exhibit molecular and specified fragment ions, the relative abundances of which must fall within a predefined range. Ion abundance criteria for BFB and DFTPP are shown in Table 41.1. [Pg.299]

Noncovalent Forces Stabilizing Protein Structure. Much of protein engineering concerns attempts to alter the stmcture or function of a protein in a predefined way. An understanding of the underlying physicochemical forces that participate in protein folding and stmctural stabilization is thus important. [Pg.196]
