Precursors proper

We were exceedingly fortunate that the quintessential proof of this idea, namely the direct incorporation of acetonedicarboxylic acid into lycopodine was indeed observed when [2,3,4-i C3]acetonedicarboxylate was fed to L. tristachyum. In fact, the experiment was so successful when it was first attempted that the resulting data were not easily interpretable. In order to achieve maximum sensitivity for the experiment, the precursor had not been diluted with unlabelled material. This precaution proved to be unnecessary as a 1 % specific incorporation was observed. Careful analysis of the splitting patterns for C-15 and C-8 indicated that about 50% of the isotopically labeled molecules contained two labeled C3 units and thus showed interunit coupling. A repetition of this experiment one year later with precursor properly diluted with unlabelled material, again yielded labeled alkaloid and this time the coupling pattern was readily analyzed and found to be consistent with our expectations. [Pg.200]

But we have many reasons. That is why the ground are actually progressing the fields of amphetamine science. Believe it or not, the Journal methods on precursors such as ours published research work. Half of the stuff in able, proper science done by people with no amazing when you think about it. [Pg.182]

Mill tailings are another form of nuclear waste. The residue from uranium ore extraction contains radium, the precursor of short-Hved radon and its daughters. Piles of tailings must be properly covered. [Pg.181]

Neoprene Type TW was shown to have low oral toxicity in rats. The LD q was found to be in excess of 20,000 mg/kg. Human patch tests with Types GN, W, WRT, and WHV showed no skin reactions (169). The FDA status of Du Pont Neoprene polymers is described (172). Although polychloroprene itself has not been shown to have potential health problems, it should be understood that many mbber chemicals that may be used with CR can be dangerous if not handled properly. This is particularly tme of ethylenethiourea curatives and, perhaps, secondary amine precursors often contained in sulfur modified polychloroprene types. Material safety data sheets should be consulted for specific information on products to be handled. [Pg.549]

Collagen chains are synthesized as longer precursors, called procollagens, with globular extensions—propeptides of about 200 residues—at both ends. These procollagen polypeptide chains are transported into the lumen of the rough endoplasmic reticulum where they undergo hydroxylation and other chemical modifications before they are assembled into triple chain molecules. The terminal propeptides are essential for proper formation of triple... [Pg.284]

In this review article we have tried to show that an analytical approach to the thermodynamics and the kinetics of adsorbates is not restricted to simple systems but can deal with rather complicated situations in a systematic approach, such as multi-site and multi-component systems with or without precursor-mediated adsorption and surface reconstruction, including multi-layers/subsurface species. This approach automatically ensures that such fundamental principles as detailed balance are implemented properly. [Pg.476]

Heterocyclic enamines A -pyrroline and A -piperideine are the precursors of compounds containing the pyrrolidine or piperidine rings in the molecule. Such compounds and their N-methylated analogs are believed to originate from arginine and lysine (291) by metabolic conversion. Under cellular conditions the proper reaction with an active methylene compound proceeds via an aldehyde ammonia, which is in equilibrium with other possible tautomeric forms. It is necessary to admit the involvement of the corresponding a-ketoacid (12,292) instead of an enamine. The a-ketoacid constitutes an intermediate state in the degradation of an amino acid to an aldehyde. a-Ketoacids or suitably substituted aromatic compounds may function as components in active methylene reactions (Scheme 17). [Pg.295]

Several classes of vitamins are related to, or are precursors of, coenzymes that contain adenine nucleotides as part of their structure. These coenzymes include the flavin dinucleotides, the pyridine dinucleotides, and coenzyme A. The adenine nucleotide portion of these coenzymes does not participate actively in the reactions of these coenzymes rather, it enables the proper enzymes to recognize the coenzyme. Specifically, the adenine nucleotide greatly increases both the affinity and the speeifieity of the coenzyme for its site on the enzyme, owing to its numerous sites for hydrogen bonding, and also the hydrophobic and ionic bonding possibilities it brings to the coenzyme structure. [Pg.588]

What is an immediate precursor of j i-chloropropylbenzene " Because the two substituents have a meta relationship, the first substituent placed on the ring must be a meta director so that the second substitution will take place at the proper position. Furthermore, because primary alkyl groups such as propyl can t be introduced directly by Friedel-Crafts alkylation, the precursor of... [Pg.583]

Exhaust conditioning requires a precise identification of all the gases and liquids, both residual precursors and by-products. It also requires leak-tight piping and ducts, and suitable mechanical and chemical scrubbers to remove or neutralize dangerous materials and the proper venting of the mechanical pump with a stainless exhaust filter to remove oil mist at the source. [Pg.125]

Testiculat androgens are synthesized in the interstitial tissue by the Leydig cells. The immediate precursor of the gonadal steroids, as for the adrenal steroids, is cholesterol. The rate-limiting step, as in the adrenal, is delivery of cholesterol to the inner membrane of the mitochondria by the transport protein StAR. Once in the proper location, cholesterol is acted upon by the side chain cleavage enzyme P450scc. The conversion of cholesterol to pregnenolone is identical in adrenal, ovary, and testis. In the latter two tissues, however, the reaction is promoted by LH rather than ACTH. [Pg.442]

In this work, various conditions have been used for preparing catalysts to screening out a proper one mainly for CTA hydrogenation. The palladium precursor, impregnation time, calcination and reduction will be taken into account. [Pg.753]

Ethyl ethylthiomethyl sulphoxide anion 325 has been found to give better yield of 1,4-adducts compared with its methyl analogue . This anion has been used by Schlessinger and coworkers as a key reagent in the synthesis of 1,4-dicarbonyl precursors of naturally occurring cyclopentenones, e.g. dihydrojasmone 379 (equation 219). Michael addition of the anion of optically active (-l-)-(S)-p-tolyl p-tolylthiomethyl sulphoxide 380 to the properly substituted cyclopentenone constitutes an important step in the asymmetric synthesis of optically active cyclopentenone 381, which is a precursor of 11-deoxy-ent-prostanoids (equation 220). The reaction proceeds with a high and y-asymmetric induction (92%), but with a poor a-stereoselection (52 48). [Pg.321]

In many cases drying operations are critical to the production of successful commercial catalysts. Close control of the drying process is necessary to achieve the proper distribution of the catalyst precursor within the pore structure of the support. Drying also influences the physical characteristics of the finished catalyst and the ease with which subsequent pelleting or extrusion processes may be carried out. [Pg.199]
