Pre-operative Phase

Identify and exclude patients with body dysmorphic disorders. [Pg.209]

Obtain medical history and exclude patients with specific contraindications (Table 19.1). [Pg.209]

Pre-operating phase The phase in which the EUT is connected to an electrical supply and which may include warming-up and energy-saving modes this is the phase before the EUT is able to enter the operating phase. [Pg.410]

After switching on (pre-operating phase), the emissions of the device increase and under the boundary conditions of the test (air exchange rate) an equilibrium concentration Cpre establishes on top of the background concentration Cbg of the emission test chamber. During the operating phase there occur the emissions from consumables and heated electronic components. Once the operation has... [Pg.410]

Some in-service decontamination techniques have also been proposed to reduce the amount of deposited radionuclides. According to the results of loop experiments reported by Amey et al. (1989), the amount of cobalt which is deposited in a PWR primary circtiit can be reduced by treatment with elevated boric acid concentrations at temperatures around 120 °C. This procedure results in a comparatively high concentration of dissolved cobalt in the coolant (values on the order of 500 ppt were measured) which can be removed by the purification system. This effect is probably due to dissolution or leaching of the outer iron-rich corrosion product layer, which usually contains comparatively high amounts of cobalt. Based on these results, an on-line chemical treatment for cobalt management was proposed for application to established plants as well as in the pre-operational phase during which the parent nuclide Co can be removed before activation to Co occurred. [Pg.324]

The safety engineering phases correlates with the pre operational phases whilst the safety management phase correlates with the applieation and maintenanee aspects of the system lifecycle. Although the Safety... [Pg.23]

The Atmospheric Chemistry Transport modelling system used is based on the off-line coupled CAMx and HIRLAM models has been developed to simulate particulate and gas-phase air pollution on different scales. It has been used to simulate short and longterm releases of different chemical species and air pollution episodes. At present it is run in a pre-operational mode 4 times per day based on 3D meteorological fields produced by the HIRLAM NWP model. Currently this modelling system is setup to perform chemical weather forecasts for a series of chemical species (such as O3, NO, NO2, CO and SO2) and forecasted 2D fields at surface are available for each model as well as an ensemble of models (based on 12 European regional air quality models). The simulated output is publicly available and it is placed at the ECMWF website (http //gems.ecmwf.int/d/products/raq/forecasts/) of the EC FP6 GEMS project. [Pg.175]

No adverse effects were found during completion of a multicenter, Phase Ila trial in 18 orthopedic (hip replacement) surgical patients in which up to 500 ml of o-Raff-Hb (Hemosol), an oxidized raffinose-polymerized human Hb, were used for pre-operative... [Pg.360]

Despite the growing interest in S EM Rs during the past 25 years, there is at present no industrial application of these reactors, except in the case of potentiometric sensors. Examples of the application of membrane reactors operating under closed-circuit conditions are briefly described in the following sections, with special emphasis on the laboratory set-ups used for materials studies and on membrane reactors presently in the pre-commercial phase, such as SOFCs or oxygen generators. [Pg.413]

Public involvement activities (other than time scheduled for public review of the National Environmental Policy Act and permitting documents) are linked only to the pre-operational and operational phases rather than to the construction and design phases of the non-stockpile facility proposed for Pine Bluff, a sign that involvement comes only after critical technical decisions have been made. [Pg.86]

In addition, alkaline systems need to be kept on a certain operation temperamre. PEM electrolyzers can be switched off completely, which eliminates operation expenditures (OPEX). A purge with inert gas or the implementation of a protective voltage to prevent electrodes from decomposing is not necessary for the accurate operation of the PEM technology either. And a PEM system will start immediately after being switched on without any pre-heating phase which is needed if an alkaline system is in use. [Pg.211]

The test programme comprises two phases nonnuclear (before fuel loading) and nuclear. The tests are often termed pre-operational and nuclear , respectively. [Pg.390]

Late one night, a brand new distillation column was wrecked by vacuum and toppled as a water filled flooded column was being pumped out. The column was designed and equipped with sufficient under/over pressure protection during normal operations, but the system was ill equipped to deal with flooded columns at startup. This was a newly constmcted plant, which had been in the pre-startup phases. [Pg.68]

The prototype reactor MONJU of 280 MW(e) power was stopped temporarily due to a leak in the non-radioactive secondary heat transport system, that occurred in December 1995 during the 40% power pre-operational testing phase. [Pg.358]
