Caraway,—The seeds of this plant—carum carui— yield, by distillation, the oil of caraway, much used for perfuming soaps, and particularly that kind known as old Windsor. It also enters into the composition of cheap essences. The seeds, in a ground state, are employed in certain sachet powders. 

Pm cine Soap.—Curd soap, fifty pounds cocoa nut oil soap,t ie same quantity, molted to paste and crutched with ten to twenty pounds of finely bolted pumice-stone powder. The perfume is a mixture of attars of thyme, Cassia, caraway, and lavender, each one pound. 

Seasoning salts have been made by adding complexes of onion, tarragon, laurel, caraway, smoke, dill and garlic oils to the salt.99 The flavor oil is prevented from evaporating because it is complexed with the cyclodextrin, but is readily released when the complex is moistened in the mouth. Complexation of the oils with cyclodextrin also converts them to a solid powder which can be easily mixed with the salt without caking. 

Compotmd Tincture of Cardamom. Take 6 drachms cardamom, 2 drachma caraway, 5 drachms cinnamon, 1 drachm cochineal, all in moderately fine powder mix together, and moisten with i fluid ounce diluted alcohol pack it in a cylindrical percolator, and di lace, with dilated alcohol, 6 fluid ounces of tincture. Bli r of Caliaaya Bark Be-duce to a moderate powder, 3 ounces Calisaya bark 4 ounces each orange peel, cinnamon, and coriander seed 1 ounce each anise seed, caraway seed, and cardamoms. Percolate the above ingredients with 4 pints alcohol diluted with 12 pints water, and add 2 pints simple syrup. 

Compound Elixir of Taraxacum. As prepared by Mr. Oandidus for Dr. Cochran, of Mobile. Reduce the following ingredients to a moderately fine powder 6 ounces taraxacum root, 4 oimces wild cherry bark, 1 ounce gentian root, 2 ounces orange peel, 1 ounce cinnamon, 1 ounce coriander sc, 2 drachms each anise, caraway and cardamom seeds, and 1 ounce liquorice root. Dilute sufficient alcohol with twice its bulk of water, and moisten the powdered ingredients with 6 ounces of it, pack in a conical percolator and displace 64 pints with the duuted alcohol. 

G173. Kitchener s Peristaltic Persuaders. Turkey rhubarb, in powder, 2 drachms oil of caraway, 10 drops simple syrup, 1 drachm by weight mix, and divide into 40 pills. Dose, 2, 3, or more. Prom 2 to 4 will generally produce one additional motion within 12 hours. The best time to take them is early in the morning. 

Chapman s Peziataltic Persuaders. Tako I drachm powdered rhubarb, 10 grains powdered ipecacuanha, and 10 drops oil of caraway. Make up with sufficient powdered acacia into 20 puls. Dose, 2 pills at bed-time, in obstmato constipation. 

Spackxoan a Anti-Dyspeptic Fills. Makemto a mass, 6 drachms 24 grains powdered aloes 3 drachms 20 grains each gamboge scammony, and conmound extract of colocynth 96 i ains soap 15 drops each oil of caraway and oil of anise with 1 drachm water. Divide the moss into 16 parts, and make each part into 24 pills 384 pills altogether. A dose consists of 3 pills. 

Spices had TPC ranging from 11,319 to 24,390 for cloves, 7,500-11,900 for Ceylon cinnamon, 230-9,000 for cumin, 610-6,750 for caraway, 3,600 for capers, 148-2,420 for cardamom, 1,610-2,200 for nutmeg, 2,117 for dried turmeric, 1,600-2,020 for star anise, 300-1,700 for black pepper spice, 134—1,250 for coriander seed, 830 for fenugreek seed, 780 for white pepper spice, 317-630 for dried ginger, 380 for green pepper spice, 201-221 for fresh ginger, and 90 for dried horseradish. Curry powder had TPC of 1,075 among spice blends.
