Postgraduate studies degree

Yu-San Cheung obtained his B.Sc. (1992) and M.Phil. (1994) degrees from CUHK, and Ph.D. (1999) from Iowa State University. His research interests in his postgraduate studies included computational chemistry and laser spectroscopy, and he has published about 30 papers in international journals. In July 1999 he joined CUHK and he is now a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry. In this capacity he is in charge of all the undergraduate physical chemistry laboratory courses in the department. [Pg.324]

Relevant vacation work or an industry placement year can improve yotrr chances, along with a demonstrable interest in water engineering, environmental issues or public health evidenced through academic projects or water-related modules undertaken as part of your degree/ postgraduate study. [Pg.40]

You have already done, or are doing, a degree course that has involved in-depth study of your subject. What then is your motivation for doing more study It is critical to consider why you are thinking about undertaking a course of postgraduate study. [Pg.112]

Arvydas Survila (1942) He was a disciple of the A. N.Frumkin electrochemistry school in Moscow. He is currently a chief research associate in the Department of Electrochemical Materials Science in the Institute of Chemistry of the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology in Vilnius. He graduated from Moscow State University in 1964 and had his postgraduate studies under the supervision of Prof. A. N. Frumkin andB. B. Damaskin and the scientific degree of doctor of science in 1967 and habilitated doctor of science in 1985 at Moscow State University. He has been a professor since 1992 and head of the Department of Kinetics at the Institute of Chemistry from 1993 to 2007. A. Survila was awarded a Prize in Science of Lithuania in 1993. He had internships in the electrochemistry in the universities in the USA, Germany, and Poland. [Pg.193]

I.e., postgraduate study, even if no formal degree was conferred. An overwhelming majority of these individuals received German doctorates. [Pg.460]

Meanwhile, Nikolay had started his new research on the preparation, reactions, and synthetic applications of p-chloro vinyl ketones and related compounds (p-aminovinyl ketones, p-kctoacetals). Efficient synthetic methods were developed and improved, including C-ketovinylation (introduction of the RCOCH = CH group), and a number of useful heterocyclic compounds (pyrazoles, triazoles, pyridines, and so on) were synthesized. The discovery of enamine-imine tautomerism in p-aminovinyl ketones was another remarkable achievement by Nikolay at that time. For these studies he received in 1953 the degree of Doctor of Science in chemistry. He continued as a lecturer and supervisor of postgraduates at the University, becoming docent (associate professor) in 1951 and full professor in 1955. [Pg.6]

With graduate recruits, the nature and class of their degree will be an influencing factor. Additionally, the institution where the degree was obtained is likely to be relevant. For postgraduates, higher relevance is usually placed on the research aspects the subjects on which they have carried out their research, who was the academic supervisor for this research or where any postdoctoral study was carried out. These factors may well determine whether they are selected for the short list... [Pg.30]

This division of the earlier book into two new titles is designed to accommodate the needs of what are now two rather separate markets. An Introduction to Pollution Science is designed for courses within degrees in environmental sciences, environmental studies and related areas including taught postgraduate courses, which are not embedded in a specific physical science or life science discipline such as chemistry,... [Pg.400]
