Post-boost

Most ethylene plants operate continuously with the expanders operating at or near design conditions. If necessary, due to their unique design characteristics, radial inflow turboexpanders can accommodate a wide range of process conditions without significant losses in thermal or mechanical efficiency. Expanders may be loaded with booster compressors, gear-coupled generators, dynamometers, or other in-plant mechanical equipment such as pumps. In ethylene plants, turboexpanders are typically used in eitlier post-boost or pre-boost applications. [Pg.58]

In post-boost applications, the turboexpander operates under generally equalized pressure conditions (i.e., the turboexpander discharge pressure is approximately the same as the compressor inlet pressure). [Pg.58]

In developing these eurves, whieh ineidentally follow the trends illustrated in Figures 5-1 through 5-4, it was assumed dial the plant is either a pre-boost or post-boost design with eonventional gas eomposition and proeess eonditions. For unusual plant designs, the expander manufaeturer should be eontaeted. [Pg.281]

The need for better performing and secure anodic materials in lithium-ion batteries compared with those based on carbon, has boosted research in various domains. Lithium/post-transition element (Al, Si, Sn, Sb...) binary systems have been widely investigated. Owing to the numerous intermetallic compounds that... [Pg.144]

The full complement of anxiety syndromes including panic, generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsiveness, and post-traumatic stress disorder can arise in the after-math of TBI. In fact, anxiety may be the most common neuropsychiatric complication of TBI. Anxiety appears to be most likely to arise when the injury occurs to the right side of the brain. The treatment alternatives for post-TBl anxiety parallel those used when treating anxiety disorders and include serotonin-boosting antidepressants, buspirone (Buspar), and the benzodiazepines (see Table 12.1). [Pg.347]

The status of chemists in the eyes of executives was boosted by the successes of chemists in fields such as plastics, petrochemicals, and synthetic textiles. The industry s growing demand for trained chemists forged a new relationship with many academic chemistry departments. For example, universities supplied industry with chemists and with basic research to supplement work done in industrial laboratories. In turn, industry provided financial support to chemistry departments. Many of the increasing number of chemistry students in American universities were supported by pre- and post- doctoral fellowships from chemical corporations (Thackray et al., 1985). [Pg.20]

Phenol (Lip Eyelicf formula) if a full-face phenol peel does not produce adequate results, a second peel can be applied to the areas that did not respond to the first peel. The touch-up can be localized or full-face, if the condition of the skin permits and if there has been a long rest period. Skin regeneration after the second peel is much quicker, there is less edema and post-peel erythema is of a much shorter duration (2 weeks at the most). If a third phenol peel were indicated (in extremely rare cases of very thick skin, patients who smoke, or rapid resumption of facial expressions), it would most often be localized. The author has only once had to do a third phenol peel on the lip and cheek area after inadequate results on skin that was extremely oily and thick. Recovery was even faster after a third application of phenol and there was hardly any erythema. It should be noted that if a second phenol peel can boost inadequate results, a third phenol peel only brings a very slight improvement over the second. [Pg.316]

In a buck, there is a post-LC filter present. Therefore this filter stage can easily be treated as a cascaded stage following the switch. The overall transfer function is then very easy to compute as per the rules mentioned in the previous section. However, when we come to the boost and buck-boost, we don t have a post-LC filter — there is a switch/diode connected between the two reactive components that alters the dynamics. However, it can be shown, that even the boost and buck-boost can be manipulated into a canonical model in which an effective post-LC filter appears at the output — thus making them as easy to treat as a buck. The only difference is that the original inductance L (of the boost and buck-boost) gets replaced by an equivalent (or effective) inductance equal to L/(l—D)2. The C remains the same in the canonical model. [Pg.270]

Note that the very existence of the RHP zero in the boost and buck-boost can be traced back to the fact that these are the only topologies where an actual LC post-filter doesn t exist on the output. Though, by using the canonical modeling technique, we have managed to create an effective LC post filter, the fact that in reality there is a switch/diode connected between the actual L and C of the topology, is what is ultimately responsible for creating the RHP zero. [Pg.287]

Red)bits were immunized with DES-4-CHE-KLH, emulsified in Fruend s complete adjuvant, at two intramuscular sites. Secondary immunizations, consisting of DES-4-CME-KIiI in Fruend s incomplete adjuvant were given at 21—28 days post primary immunization. The final boost was given 21-28 days post secondary immunization using the DES-4-CME-KLH in Fruend s incon lete adjuvant, the animal was sacrificed three days later and the serum frozen. [Pg.283]

Successful market penetration depends on an interplay between several critical factors. According to a study made at the University of Stirling, Scotland [78] the three major factors which could boost post consumer polymer waste use in industry are, in order of importance ... [Pg.65]
