Polyvinylidene PVDF

PVDF has properties similar to PTFE but is easier to fabricate. It has good resistance to inorganic acids and alkalis, and organic solvents. It is limited to a maximum operating temperature of 140°C. [Pg.302]

Nylon membranes that are suitable for use include both uncharged membranes, such as Hybond N (Amersham International), and positively charged membranes, such as Hybond N" (Amersham International). Nitrocellulose and polyvinylidene (PVDF) membranes are unsuitable for use with the digoxigenin/AMPPD system. [Pg.53]

Organic components can also be introduced in perfluorinated membranes, to increase the membrane selectivity. Polyvinylidene (PVDF) can effectively suppress the swelling of Nafion due to its high crystallite nature and further improve the selectivity [17]. By simple blending of PVDF with Nafion, the CE of the battery can be improved due to its higher ion selectivity, and the EE increases as well. The use of acid-base membranes such as SPEEK (sulphonated poly(ether ether ketone)), and PSf-ABIm (polysulphone-2-amide-benzimidazole) is another way to improve membrane selectivity via the interactions between sulphonated acid and amide basic groups [18,19]. [Pg.353]

Polyvinylidene fluoride (Kynar) (PVDF) is probably the most widely used fluorinated polymer for chemical applications. It can be melt-processed using virtually all the melt-processible procedures. PVDF components such as pipe fittings, tubing, sheet, shapes, and... [Pg.37]

Protein-ligand interactions could be detected using a labeled ligand as a probe. Figure 7.7. Protein microarray on polyvinylidene difluoride filters (PVDF). The anodes of these two graphite samples were fabricated from a slurried mixture which contains 92 wt% of active graphite powder and 8wt% polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) polymer binder (Kureha 9130) and using 1 -methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP) (Aldrich, >99%) as the solvent. After getting the homogenous slurry, the electrode laminates were coated on Cu current collector foil using a doctor blade in the laboratory-made laminate-coater. The laminates were then dried first at 75°C in air for 3 hrs and then the final heat treatment was carried out in a vacuum oven at 75 C for 10 hrs. Finally, the laminates were calendared to about 35% porosity in a dry room. [Pg.300]

Which materials are best for cell design depends essentially on the type of electrolyte used. Because HF acid is quite common in the electrochemistry of silicon, materials resistant to HF are preferable. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polypropylene (PP), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) can be used for the cell body. PVC is a good choice for most designs because it is inex-... [Pg.15]
