Polyethyleneimine blocks

Poly(styrene-g-ethyleneimine) in the form of macroporous 3% CL beads with linear polyethyleneimine blocks was 42 % quaternized with 1-bromobutane (20)94). [Pg.71]

The Jordi polyethyleneimine phase has been developed in an attempt to block adsorptive effects of the PDVB surfaces toward cationic polymers such as chitosan and quaternary water-soluble flocculants (Fig. 13.17). [Pg.376]

Poly(ethylene oxide)-/>-polyethyleneimine (PEO-6-PEI) Block copolymer, linear PEI segment Synthesis of carrier (Akiyama et al., 2000)... [Pg.150]

Polyelectrolyte complexes of retinoic acid have been well investigated, they are pharmaceutically active surfactants. In the following, we will therefore discuss the physicochemical properties of drug carriers formed by synthetic polyamino acids, polyethyleneimine, double hydrophilic block copolymers and retinoic acid. [Pg.137]

It is usually difficult to add functionalities (i.e., to insert other amphiphilic molecules into a bilayer membrane) to self-assemble a bilayer nanoparticle after its self-assembly in solvents because the assembled bilayer membrane is a thermodynamically stable. If one can controlled the self-assemble phenomena, more complexed nanostrucutres can be achieved, and it will open a new stage of drug/gene delivery system. Bui et al. prepared a bilayer membrane nanoparticle via two-step self-assemblies using a solubility of amphiphilic block copolymer (Fig. 2.1.8) [108], The nanoparticles were composed of a positively charged complex core (siRNA and polyethyleneimine [PEI]) and a capsid-like (bilayer) shell. The preparation processes were divided into two steps (1) an electrostatic... [Pg.16]

Another type of block copolypeptide nanocarrier was developed using a unimolecular star architecture and was reported by Liu and coworkers [86]. They reacted terminal amine groups on a small polyethyleneimine core successively with a hydrophobic NCA (leucine or phenylalanine) followed by Bn-Glu NCA to yield star polymers with hydrophilic coronas and hydrophobic cores. These materials were found to be able to encapsulate hydrophobic or cationic probe molecules, where the catimiic probes were bound as counterions to the anionic polyglutamate segments. In sununaiy, although nanoparticles composed solely of polypeptide components are relatively recent developments, there is substantial interest in this area and it is likely that a wide variety of new materials and structures will be forthcoming. [Pg.22]
