Carboxy-terminated poly

Carboxy-Terminated Poly butadiene Propellant Formulation... [Pg.889]

Poly(unsaturated ester)-siloxane segmented copolymers have been prepared by the polycondensation of epoxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxanes and carboxy-terminated poly(ethylene adipate-co-maleate) oligomers 243). Reactions have been conducted in cellosolve solvent, at 140-150 °C, in the presence of 2% by weight potassium hydroxide catalyst. The molecular weights reported were fairly low. The same group has also prepared poly(hexamethylene adipate)-polydimethylsiloxane copolymers con-... [Pg.39]

An alternative photo-SIP approach was described by Kang and coworkers, where they used an argon plasma to oxidize alkylthiolate SAMs on planar gold [55]. The plasma treatment oxidized carboxy-terminated SAMs to peroxide moieties. UV irradiation in the presence of acryhc acid and allylpentafluorobenzene yielded ultra-thin graft layers of 6-7nm. The poly(acrylic acid) layers were found to adsorb Fe " ions from solution. This particular photoinitiation method yields low-density polymer brush films. [Pg.61]

Poly butadienes. Hydroxyl-terminated polybutadienes are comparatively late comers and are still in the development stage. They combine the high specific impulse of the well-proved carboxy-terminated polybutadienes with the clean, stoichiometric urethane reaction yielding propellants with unsurpassed mechanical properties. [Pg.97]

The rockets with solid composite propellants consisting of ammonium perchlorate (oxidizer), pulverized aluminum powder, special additives and binder-cum-fuel such as poly(butadiene-acrylic acid-acrylonitrile (PBAN), carboxy-terminated... [Pg.53]

Inert binders Polybutadiene and cellulose derivatives are used as binders for LOVA formulations [24]. The commonly used polybutadiene-based binders are hydroxy-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) and carboxy-terminated polybutadiene (CTPB)/poly(butadiene-acrylonitrile) (PBAN) while the most commonly used cellulose derivatives are ethyl cellulose (EC), cellulose acetate (CA), cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) and cellulose... [Pg.229]

CTPH — Carboxy Terminated Poly butadiene Tree radical terminated polymers. [Pg.316]

Three homopolymer (diblock copolymer) phase boundary systems have been studied extensively the system of polystyrene (PS) and poly(2-vinylpyridine) (PVP) reinforced with diblock copolymers ofPS-PVP [22,25,28,31-33], the system of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and PS reinforced with diblock copolymers of PMMA-PS [17,24,34,35] and the system of PMMA and poly(phe-nylene oxide) (PPO) reinforced by diblock copolymers of PMMA-PS [ 14,36,37]. Phase boundaries between PS and a crosslinked epoxy (XEp) were reinforced with carboxy-terminated PS chains whose -COOH ends reacted with either excess amines or epoxy to form a grafted brush at the interface [38,39]. In a similar manner, interfaces between rubber-modified PS (HIPS) and XEp reinforced with grafted PS-COOH chains have been investigated [40]. [Pg.69]

Ratna (2001) examined the cure and phase separation of carboxy-terminated poly(2-ethyl hexyl acrylate) (CTPEHA) liquid modifler in DGEBA/diethyltoluene diamine (DEED). It was found that the CTPEHA liquid rubber causes a delay in the polymerization of the epoxy-resin matrix due to chain extension during pre-reaction and the viscosity effect. The Tg decreases with increasing rubber concentration. [Pg.365]

CTPEHA carboxy-terminated poly(2-ethyl hexyl acrylate)... [Pg.435]

Epoxy-Terminated Poly (butadiene-co-acrylonitrile) (ETBN). A mixture of 730 g of bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (5.4 mol epoxy/kg), 200 g of carboxy-terminated poly (butadiene-co-acrylontrile) (Hycar 1300 x 13 from BFGoodrich, 26 wt% acrylonitrile content, acid number of 32 mg KOH/g), 64 g of bisphenol A, and 5 g triphenylphosphin was heated at 130 °C for 3 h to yield ETBN with a viscosity of 130,000 mPa-s (40 °C) and 3.3 mol epoxy/kg. [Pg.87]

Glycidyl methacrylate has also been grafted to polypropylene to insert an epoxy group for later reaction with something else.85 The product was used for coupling with carboxy-terminated poly(butylene terephthalate) (8.14) in a twin-screw extruder.86... [Pg.209]

Using the same approach, ABA block copolymers (with TBA segments forming block A) were prepared using bifunctional telechelic amino- or carboxy-terminated polybutadiene or poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile). The latters are commercially... [Pg.284]

In view of the functionality thus created, it is interesting to consider possible applications for the epoxldlzed oils mentioned as epoxy monomers per se. Indeed, some epoxldlzed oils are commonly used as reactive diluents for other epoxy prepolymers in order to reduce cost or Improve processability (10,11) examples claimed in reference 11 Include epoxldlzed linseed, butylated linseed, soybean, and tall oils. However, although some fundfimental studies of the effects of monofunctional reactive diluents on the viscoelastic and other properties of epoxy resins have been published (see, for example, reference 12), little or no analogous Information on the effects of multifunctional reactive diluents appears to exist. At the same time, some reactive additives such as polyols (13), poly(ether esters) (14) and carboxy-terminated elastomers (15) have been used to provide an elastomeric toughening phase for epoxies. [Pg.110]

Graft copolymers are polymers produced when molecular fragments belonging to others polymers have been inserted into their side chains (Hazer and Steinbiichel 2007). The condensation reaction between the carboxy-terminal groups of certain PHAs poly[(/ )-3-hydroxybutyrate] poly[(/ )-3-hydroxybutyrate-co-(l )-3-hy-droxyvalerate] or PHO and the amine function of chitosan resulted in grafting of PHA polymers onto chitosan (Fig. 2). These grafted polymers formed opaque, viscous solutions in water and, once dried, afforded strong elastic films (Yalpani et al. 1991 Arslan et al. 2007). [Pg.163]

Further proteolytic cleavages occur carboxy-terminal to Arg 334 and Arg 343 and give rise to beta-factor Xlla. During the formation of beta-factor Xlla, residues 1-334 and 345-353 of factor XII are removed. The codon for the carboxy-terminal residue of the heavy chain of beta-factor Xlla (Ser-596) is followed by a T6A stop codon, a 3 untranslated region of 150 nucleotides and a poly(A) tail. Nucleotides 1937 to 1942 contain the sequence AATAAA that is involved in the polyadenylation of mRNA (134,181). This sequence occurs 17 nucleotides upstream of the poly(A) tail. From the predicted amino acid sequence, the molecular weight of plasma factor XII is 66,915 in the absence of carbohydrate and 80,427 with the addition of 16.8% carbohydrate (207). [Pg.297]
