Pressure specification

Vapor pressure specifications for gasolines in Europe (Distribution by class). [Pg.189]

Available data on the thermodynamic and transport properties of carbon dioxide have been reviewed and tables compiled giving specific volume, enthalpy, and entropy values for carbon dioxide at temperatures from 255 K to 1088 K and at pressures from atmospheric to 27,600 kPa (4,000 psia). Diagrams of compressibiHty factor, specific heat at constant pressure, specific heat at constant volume, specific heat ratio, velocity of sound in carbon dioxide, viscosity, and thermal conductivity have also been prepared (5). [Pg.18]

Because the system likely is nonisothermal, the analysis of a closed-desiccant system requites knowledge of the temperature of the desiccant as well as the dew point (ice point) or water concentration (partial pressure) specification. Indeed, the whole system may undergo periodic temperature transients that may compHcate the analysis. Eor example, in dual-pane windows the desiccant temperature is approximately the average of the indoor and outdoor temperatures after a night of cooling. However, after a day in the sun, the desiccant temperature becomes much warmer than the outdoor temperature. When the sun sets, the outdoor pane cools quickly while the desiccant is still quite warm. The appropriate desiccant for such an appHcation must have sufficient water capacity and produce satisfactory dew points at the highest temperatures experienced by the desiccant. [Pg.509]

Density and Specific Gravity For binary or pseudobinary mixtures of hquids or gases or a solution of a solid or gas in a solvent, the density is a funcrion of the composition at a given temperature and pressure. Specific gravity is the ratio of the density of a noncompress-ible substance to the density of water at the same physical conditions. For nonideal solutions, empirical calibration will give the relationship between density and composition. Several types of measuring devices are described below. [Pg.764]

Typically, the liquid out the bottom of the tower must meet a specified vapor pressure. The tower must be designed to maximize the molecules of intermediate components in the liquid without exceeding the vapor pressure specification. This is accomplished by driving the maximum number of molecules of methane and ethane out of the liquid and keeping a.s much of the heavier ends as possible from going out with the gas. [Pg.135]

The physical and chemical characteristics of the liazardous substance must be listed. Tliese include items such as boiling and freezing points, density, vapor pressure, specific gravity, solubility, volatility, and product s general appearmice and odor. These characteristics provide important iiiformation for designing safe and healtliful work practices. [Pg.304]

Specific humidity used in calculations on certain types of compressors is a totally different term. It is the ratio of the weight of water vapor to the weight of dry air and is usually expressed as pounds, or grains, of moisture per pound of dry air. Where pa is the partial air pressure, specific humidity can be calculated as ... [Pg.634]

More values are available in Appendices 2A and 2D values assume constant pressure. Specific heat capacities commonly use Celsius degrees in their units, whereas molar heat capacities commonly use kelvins. All values except that for ice are for 25°C. [Pg.344]

The SI unit for heat capacity is J-K k Molar heat capacities (Cm) are expressed as the ratio of heat supplied per unit amount of substance resulting in a change in temperature and have SI units of J-K -moC (at either constant volume or pressure). Specific heat capacities (Cy or Cp) are expressed as the ratio of heat supplied per unit mass resulting in a change in temperature (at constant volume or pressure, respectively) and have SI units of J-K -kg . Debye s theory of specific heat capacities applies quantum theory in the evaluation of certain heat capacities. [Pg.333]

Interest in the pressure dependence of structural relaxation in fluids has been stimulated by recent applications [175, 176] of a simple pressure analogue of the VFTH equation for the relaxation time x at a constant pressure P to the analysis of experimental data at variable pressures. Specifically, x(P) for both polymer and small molecule fluids has been found to extrapolate to infinity at a critical pressure Pg, and this divergence takes the form of an essential singularity,... [Pg.189]

It is a self-sustained reaction in which the energy is transmitted from the burning to the unburnt layers of the substance by means of surface transport properties consisting of burning, which is a relatively slow process. The linear deflgrn rate can be considered to be a function of ambient pressure only consequently, steady states are attainable at constant pressures. Specifically, for condensed expls the linear deflgrn rate is a monotone increasing function of pressure, a fact which plays an important role in the self-acceleration of explosive reactions... [Pg.512]

Accdg to Dunkle s Lecture delivered at Picatinny Arsenal on Dec.13, 1955, Hydro-dynamic Theory of Detonation , (Ref 78), utilizes the laws of conservation of mass, energy and momentum to derive certain relationship known as the "Rankine-Hugoniot Equation . There are five basic equations, of which. the first three are related to five variables pressure, specific volume, energy, detonation velocity and particle velocity... [Pg.610]

Because of the overall first-order dependence of reaction rate on pressure (specifically, on hydrogen partial pressure) in combination with the rather complex selectivity relationships among primary products, it is regarded as quite probable that all of the primary products (and the separate inter-... [Pg.336]

If the recovery of the adsorbed VOCs is highly desirable, then instead of steam, a vacuum regeneration system may be used. According to this method, the VOCs are forced to volatilize not by temperature, but by means of pressure. Specifically, a vacuum pump is employed to decrease the pressure in the carbon below the vapor pressure of the VOCs, which leads to then1 boiling at ambient temperature. This method is generally used with carbons, polymers, and zeolite adsorbents (EPA, 1999). [Pg.348]

Differentiation is among the most important geochemical processes that affected planets. We have already discussed the differentiation of planetesimals in Chapter 11 here we will consider differentiation in large planets, which differs because of longer duration and the effects of significantly higher pressures. Specifically, we will focus on the Earth, since we know most about it. A complete discussion of the Earth s differentiation is beyond the scope of this book, and readers are referred to reviews of this topic (e.g. Halliday, 2004 Tolstikhin and Kramers, 2008 Halliday and Wood, 2009) for more detailed information. [Pg.504]
