Plate driers

For development, the plate is transferred to the n-hexane tank and developed to the first solvent limit line. The plate is removed and dried in the t.l.c. plate drier until no odour of solvent is apparent (ca. lOmin). The plate is cut in half and the lower half is placed in the toluene tank, and eluted up to the second solvent limit line. The plate is removed and dried as above. The plate is reversed by putting it back in the hexane tank with the cut edge dipping in the hexane. The plate is eluted back to the origin line, removed and dried as above. [Pg.163]

Similar devices, without the central turbines and built like multiple-hearth furnaces, are known as plate driers. [Pg.688]

A pressure filter is a plate-and-frame press which operates on an intermittent time cycle. Drier cakes are generally attainable from a filter press. Sludge drying beds are usually used for smaller sludge volumes, which drain and dry rapidly. Thein appHcation is usually restricted to the more arid climates. [Pg.194]

The filter press has the advantage of simplicity, low capital cost, flexibility, and ability to operate at high pressure in either a cake-filter or a clarifying-filter application. Floor-space and headroom needs per unit of filter area are small, and capacity can be adjusted by adding or removing plates and frames. Filter presses are cleaned easily, and the filter medium is easily replaced. With proper operation a denser, drier cake compared with that of most other filters is obtained. [Pg.1709]

In modem boilers, both FT steam spaces and WT steam drums incorporate various devices to promote the effective separation of steam from water and the production of dry steam. These devices include horizontal separators and baffle plates in the steam/water space, and chevron driers, cyclone separators, and secondary steam scrubbers in the steam space. Older or simpler boiler designs with steam release velocities of below 3 ft/s (0.9 m/s) may rely solely on the natural separation of steam from water. [Pg.8]

Combinations of nutches and driers, so called filter-driers, are becoming increasingly common. Particularly suitable are jacketed filter-driers having a heated bottom plate (below the filtration membrane) and a heated agitator, such as the Schenk filter-drier (see Fig. 7.2-7). [Pg.450]

Spots of lpl, lOpl and 20pl of sediment extracts and 20pl of blank extract on the adsorption chromatography clean-up stage are applied to the silica gel t.l.c. plate using lpl micropipettes and the spot drier. [Pg.163]

Cellulaidine(Poudre celluloi que). Smokeless propint patented by Turpin in 1888 was prepd by gelatinizing pulped NC with the least amt of a volatile solvent(such as ethyl acetate) and spreading the resulting paste, in a thin layer, on a large plate placed in a drier. Then the nearly dry thick sheet was removed, passed thru rolls and cut into small cubes Refs l)Cundill(1889) in MP 6, 107(under Turpin) 2)Daniel( 1902), 125... [Pg.490]

Place the frozen mixture in a freeze-drier using a plate temperature of 30 °C or below. Freeze-dry until all the water has been removed (i.e., to constant weight). [Pg.25]

After washing, cover the gel plate with a layer of filter paper wetted with water (to avoid air bubbles) and dry in hot air from a hair drier or in an oven. Drying is complete when the filter paper begins to lift from the plate. Drying the gel too fast or with too much heat will produce cracking or cause the filter paper to stick on the gel (s Note 6). [Pg.199]
