Plastics Pollution Control Act

An amendment to the Plastics Pollution Control Act of 1987 had been enacted by the US Government to take effect in 1990. Public law 100-556 would require ring carriers in the US to be degradable. E/CO is a qualified material, based on its successful history to date [5]. [Pg.154]

The effects of amendments to the Environmental Protection Act (1990), which relate to pollution control and styrene emissions from installations, on UK fibre reinforced plastics processors are examined. Possible cost-effective abatement solutions are briefly considered. [Pg.64]

Already there are certain restrictions for certain non-biodegradable plastic packaging materials (the US Plastics Pollution Research and Control Act of 1987, Public Law 100-220 and the Annex of the MARPOL (marine pollution) Convention - the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships which prohibit the disposal of plastics at sea, which allowed the US Navy promote the development of aquatic biodegradable plastics at sea. [Pg.192]

The Martime Pollution (MARPOL) Treaty of 1995 and the Plastic Pollution Research and Control Act of 1987 prohibit, disposal of plastics at sea due to damage to the marine environment. [Pg.26]

The analysis of these materials is even more critical with increased interest in their environmental impact on ecological systems and human health. A number of frequently used additives, such as phthalate and adipate plasticizers have been identified as environmental pollutants, and the fate of these chemicals is the subject of ongoing studies. Concern over the total composition of plastics has increased the focus on the total life cycle of polymeric materials. Government attention to toxic substances has increased over the years through the US Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and the REACH initiative in the EU. These regulations may prohibit or otherwise impact the exportability of the plastic goods or other products that come in contact with the plastics. This, coupled with increased consumer attention and disclosures of chemicals in consumer products, has increased the need for a more complete analysis of polymeric materials. Combustion of rubber... [Pg.662]
