Liaison with Top Management on Plant Site Selection and Products Produced... [Pg.433]

A weekly publication of McGraw-Hill. This excellent pubheation concentrates on the news and business aspects of the chemical industry. It periodically has excellent marketing and sales studies for various products. It also publishes annually a plant-site-selection issue and a Buyers Guide. The Buyers Guide lists the major producers and the source of supply for over 6,000 chemical products, and has a list of chemical trade names. It publishes, quarterly, the current financial condition of 300 companies involved in chemical processing. [Pg.21]

Other Cost Components include (a) owners Project Management cost, which includes technical and economic feasibility studies, environmental impact studies, plant site selection, land procurement, financing negotiations, preparation of technical specifications, selection or recommendation of contractors, and contract negotiations,- (b) Preoperation and Startup Expense, which provides for the costs incurred between the end of construction and the production of a quality product at design capacity and (c) Spare Parte. [Pg.570]

Plant site selection. A 2500 MW combined cycle facility with the associated harbor for the LNG receiving terminal and storage facility may require on the order of 60 hectares (150 acres) of geotechnically good quality land. [Pg.368]

The proper location of a plant is as important to its success as the selection of a process. Not only must many tangible factors such as labor supply and raw material sources be carefully considered, but also a number of intangible factors, w hich are more difficult to evaluate. The selection of a plant site must be based on a very detailed study in which all factors are weighed as carefully as possible. Such a study often requires a substantial outlay of capital. [Pg.161]

Although the source of raw materials may not be at the plant site, it is an e.xtremcly important factor in the ultimate location of the plant. Process development work and economic studies will indicate the minimum standards for raw materials selection. When these standards have been determined, all possible sources of acceptable raw materials can be located and a detailed analysis can proceed. [Pg.163]

Liston, Donald M. "Safety Aspects of Site Selection, Plant Layout, and Unit Plot Planning." In H. H. Fawcett and W. S. Wood (eds.), Safety and Accident Prevention in Chemical Operations, pp. 35-59. New York Wiley, 1982. [Pg.67]

Liston (Ref. 27) provides useful checklists for equipment and building siting and layout for safety purposes, as well as other safety-related criteria for plant design. These checklists address economic considerations and facility geographical location, site selection, layout, and unit plot planning factors. [Pg.85]

The location of the plant can have a crucial effect on the profitability of a project, and the scope for future expansion. Many factors must be considered when selecting a suitable site, and only a brief review of the principal factors will be given in this section. Site selection for chemical process plants is discussed in more detail by Merims (1966) and Mecklenburgh (1985) see also AIChemE (2003). The principal factors to consider are ... [Pg.892]

The transport of materials and products to and from the plant will be an overriding consideration in site selection. [Pg.893]

While many factors can be important in the selection of a plant site, three are usually considered the most important. These are the location of the markets and... [Pg.26]
