ABS and PP are used as pipes and accessories. Polybutene and cross-linked PE are utilized for hot water applications. Chlorinated PVC is also used for this purpose, however, it is sensitive to impact.

The media filters shown in Figure 4.4 are rubber-lined (5 mm thick) carbon steel (ASME coded-stamped) vessels, 2.4 m diameter (D) X 1.83 m SSH and rated for a working pressure of 7 bar g. The hydraulic test pressure rating is 10 bar g. The internal distribution system consists of a PVC upper distribution system and a header and lateral bottom collection system. Each vessel is provided with two 8 cm X 30 cm sight glasses and a 40 cm X 50 cm elliptical man-way. All face piping is PVC, and accessories include pneumatic... 

About 2 million hectares are under irrigation with low-diameter pipe made of LDPE/LLDPE in Europe. Higher diameter (>32 mm) tubes are usually made in HDPE or PVC.
