The genotoxicity of fuel oil no. 2, kerosene, and diesel fuel was also evaluated with the mouse lymphoma TK" " forward mutation assay (Conaway et al. 1984). The data reported was insufficient to permit a full evaluation of the results however, the authors considered diesel fuel and kerosene to be negative and fuel oil no. 2 to be positive. 

Glow Plug A device used to provide heat to the prechamber of an indirect injected diesel engine. It is used in cold conditions to permit ease of starting. The glow plugs have a preheating time of about seven seconds. 

Early in 1952, a blend of primary amyl nitrates was introduced commercially as a Diesel ignition improver. This additive is being used by refiners to upgrade distillates which are low in ignition quality (thereby increasing supplies of Diesel fuels), to increase the flexibility of refining operations, and to permit the marketing of diesel fuels of more uniform quality. Steps in its development and its properties have been reported in the literature (1, 18, 38). 

The sulfur percentages of 0.02 weight-percent or less in the shale oil diesel fuels would permit these fuels to be classed as low-sulfur diesel fuels. Nitrogen percentages were low, ranging from 141 to 202 parts per million (ppm). Cetane indexes, calculated by ASTM method D-976 (7j, were excellent, ranging from 48 to 56. 

The fire water distribution system is kept pressurized by means of a jockey pump. In the event of a sprinkler trip, three large diesel driven pumps come on line as needed to supply the tremendous quantity of water which may be required. In order to prevent the water pressure from dropping, which would result in low water flow to the sprinkler nozzles immediately after they are opened, an electric switch panel allows the diesels to be started directly from an electric notifier system. This permits the diesels to get the start signal about the same time water begins to flow which reduces the unwanted initial pressure drop. 

Green diesel is produced by a refinery process that permits quality control of biofuel and the use of existing infrastructure and fuel distribution systems.
