Pentachlorophenol bioremediation

Pentachlorobiphenyl, 13 140 Pentachloroethane, in integrated manufacturing process, 6 237t Pentachlorophenol, bioremediation substrate, 3 772-776 Pentachlorotoluene, physical properties, 6 344t... [Pg.679]

A major concern when remediating wood-treatment sites is that pentachlorophenol was often used in combination with metal salts, and these compounds, such as chromated copper—arsenate, are potent inhibitors of at least some pentachlorophenol degrading organisms (49). Sites with significant levels of such inorganics may not be suitable candidates for bioremediation. [Pg.33]

Pentachlorophenol is readily degraded in biofHm reactors (53), so bioremediation is a promising option for the treatment of contaminated groundwater brought to the surface as part of a pump-and-treat operation. [Pg.34]

A bioslurry phase system consists of the suspension of a solid phase in water or other liquid medium to a concentration typically between 5% and 40% (w/v) and kept under agitation conditions to allow the microbial growth of the indigenous microbiota or a particular inoculated microorganism [114], Bioslurry systems for bioremediation purposes have been mostly conducted with bacterial cultures [146, 147], although in the last few years WRF were also successfully applied to soil bioremediation of PAHs, hexachlorocyclohexane and pentachlorophenol [110, 113, 114],... [Pg.153]

The company has applied ex situ landfarming technology to several sites. The process is designed to contaminated site containing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), phthalate esters, petroleum hydrocarbons, and pentachlorophenol (PCP). The company has also used in situ techniques such as air sparging bioremediation. [Pg.408]

The SBP slurry-phase bioremediation system can treat a wide range of organic contamination, especially wood-preserving wastes and solvents. A modified version can also treat polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) such as creosote and coal tar pentachlorophenol (PCP) total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) and chlorinated aliphatics, such as trichloroethene (TCE). The technology can be combined with SBP s membrane filtration system to form a soil cleaning system to handle residuals and contaminated liquids. [Pg.949]

Solid-phase bioremediation is an ex situ treatment technology for soil and sediment contaminated with total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and phenols, including pentachlorophenol (PCP). [Pg.950]
