This book concentrates on synthesis and identification methods for molecular sieves including nonaluminosilicate molecular sieves and gives a good overview of structures and patented materials. [Pg.2793]

Research on the identification of vanilloid antagonists has been pursued more intensively in industry than in academia. Thus, a SciFinder search for new chemical entities endowed with this type of activity pulled out 34 entries from the proprietary literature, and only 14 from journal articles during the period January 2004 June 2006. The patent literature can be difficult to evaluate and compare with the published data. Bioactivity is often not disclosed (or commented), and activity can be broadly claimed for a series of lead structures without specifying their optimal substitution. On the other hand, analysis of the patent literature does not only complement the published data, but also offers a preview of information that will be eventually disclosed and detailed in journals. Given the relevance of proprietary literature in the realm of vanilloids research, the main trends emerging from its analysis will be briefly summarized. [Pg.164]

A selective enrichment strategy was pursued in developing biocatalysts for benzothio-phene desulfurization. Oldfield [119] started with contaminated soil samples and isolated two active strains, which were deposited as NUE213E and NUE213F (Accession No NCIMB 40816 and 40817, respectively, at The National Collections of Industrial and Marine Bacteria Limited). Apart from being rod-shaped and Gram positive, there was no other characterization or identification, in the patent document. This patent was published by the US PTO on July 2001 and has not yet been issued. [Pg.84]

Orchid Cellmark is focused on identity DNA testing services for both, human and agriculture applications. Specifically, in the DNA testing services are used for food safety and selective trait breeding in the agriculture industry. The patented SNP method employs DNA polymerase for carrying out the biochemical reactions, which lead to the identification of the SNP by isolating the site of a suspected SNP. [Pg.243]

The next step was identification and isolation of DNA fragments encoding the biocatalyst. The same procedure can be applied to any active microorganism. DNA plasmid (Plasmid pTOXI-1 and Plasmid pTOXI-2) and vectors (four different nucleic acid sequences were included, namely SEQ ID No. 1 to 4 see original reference for details [38]) were constructed based on the identified and isolated fragments and constitute part of the claimed subject matter. The described expression of the Dsz+ trait in both a related and non-related heterologous host detailed in the patent, seems to indicate that pTOXI-1 (see patent document [38]) carries all of the genetic information required for conversion of DBT to 2-HBP. [Pg.311]
