Paris region

In temperate climate zones it may be more appropriate to install a nanofiltration process rather than reverse osmosis. Nanofiltration allows the production of drinking water from polluted rivers. As for reverse osmosis, pretreatment is important to control fouling of the membranes. One of the largest such plants produces 140,000 m3/day of water for the North Paris region(26). [Pg.469]

A seven year smdy on the groundwater in the Paris region of France, revealed DEA was present at a concentration above that of its parent compound. The atrazine degradation pathway and the higher solubility of DEA in water may explain this finding. Recent work showed that photolysis of triazines and acetanilides followed pseudo first order kinetics, and the photodegradation in soils was accelerated as the content of organic matter increased. Another study showed that humic substances enhanced terbutylazine photolysis. ... [Pg.980]

Even in countries which are not signatories to either the PCT or various regional conventions provided around the world, patent appHcation examination generally foUows a fairly standard pattern. After the first national, home appHcation is filed, subsequent apphcations may then be filed in other countries, within the 12-month time period if such a grace period is provided. If this grace period is not provided, the patent appHcation(s) which are to be filed in non-Paris Convention Countries have to be filed before any event occurs that may destroy the novelty of the invention. Eurther, under U.S. [Pg.38]

The SU5 beamline [89] at the Super-ACO synchrotron (LURE, Paris ) employed an electromagnetic undulator to produce fully variable polarization in the VUV region [83, 90, 91]. This beamline was equipped with a gas filter for the suppression of unwanted higher order radiation [92] and had a VUV polarimeter [93] permanently installed just before the experimental chamber that could be rapidly lowered into the beam for polarization determinations. Full polarization analyses had been performed in commissioning, with 53 values ranging from 0.9 to 0.96 for rep and from 0.9 to 0.99 for Icp [93]. The remainder was determined... [Pg.302]

The K-region of a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon is typified by the 9,10-bond of phenanthrene. According to the Schmidt-Pullman electronic theory, an unsubstituted K-region is a requirement for carcinogenic activity see A. Pullman and B. Pullman, La Cancerisation par les Substances Chimiques et la Structure Moleculaire, Masson, Paris, 1955. [Pg.15]

Albile is u relatively common and important rock-making mineral associated with the more acid rock types and in pegmatite dikes, often with rarer minerals like tourmaline and beryl. There are many famous localities in Europe in the Swiss and Austrian Alps, the Urals, the Harz Mountains, in Italy, France, and Norway. Brazil has yielded line specimens. In the United States, notable localities arc Paris and Auburn. Maine Chesterfield. Mass. Haddam, Connecticut Amelia County. Virginia and the Pikes Peak region of Colorado. It is used in the ceramic industries and also in the manufacture of artificial teelh. [Pg.607]

Detection of Ihe presence, distribution and/or quantity of infrared radiation requires techniques which arc, in pari, unique to this spectral region The frequency of the radiation is such that essentially optical methods may be used to collect, direct, and filter the radiation. Trunsmilting optical elements, including lenses and w indows, must be made of suitable materials, which may or may not be transparent in Ihe visible spectrum. [Pg.833]

A large national contribution as indicated by a relatively large change in regional PMjo levels due to a national reduction of emissions can be identified for Milan, Paris, Lisbon and Stuttgart, whereas large transboundary contributions have been calculated for Kosice.11... [Pg.10]
