Paralleling converters

Following sulfur removal (1), the autothermal reformer (2) and reforming exchanger (3), which operate in parallel, convert the hydrocarbon feed into raw synthesis gas in the presence of steam using a nickel catalyst. [Pg.18]

The BEWAG battery was connected to a 30-kV distribution line via four parallelled converters. When providing frequency control, the converters were programmed to limit power flow to 8.5 MW. For spinning reserve, the power limit was increased to supply 17 MW [16]. [Pg.308]

Driving system for conventional robots was modified to drive electrochemical setup. Applied voltages were controlled by a PC with D/A board (RIF-01, Fujitsu Corporation), or serial-parallel converter (BlackBox, Felixstyle Inc.). Amplifier circuit amplifies the inputs with D.C. power supply (PW18-1.8Q, KENWOOD). Two kinds were prepared. One is analog operational amplifier (LM6321, National Instruments) and another is motor driver IC (TPD4000K,... [Pg.86]

For the parallel recording of EEL spectra in STEM, linear arrays of semiconductor detectors are used. Such detectors convert the incident electrons mto photons, using additional fluorescent coatings or scintillators in the very same way as the TEM detectors described above. [Pg.1633]

Extrusion Processes. Polymer solutions are converted into fibers by extmsion. The dry-extmsion process, also called dry spinning, is primarily used for acetate and triacetate. In this operation, a solution of polymer in a volatile solvent is forced through a number of parallel orifices (spinneret) into a cabinet of warm air the fibers are formed by evaporation of the solvent. In wet extmsion, a polymer solution is forced through a spinneret into a Hquid that coagulates the filaments and removes the solvent. In melt extmsion, molten polymer is forced through a multihole die (pack) into air, which cools the strands into filaments. [Pg.296]

In humans, thiamine is both actively and passively absorbed to a limited level in the intestines, is transported as the free vitamin, is then taken up in actively metabolizing tissues, and is converted to the phosphate esters via ubiquitous thiamine kinases. During thiamine deficiency all tissues stores are readily mobilhed. Because depletion of thiamine levels in erythrocytes parallels that of other tissues, erythrocyte thiamine levels ate used to quantitate severity of the deficiency. As deficiency progresses, thiamine becomes indetectable in the urine, the primary excretory route for this vitamin and its metaboHtes. Six major metaboHtes, of more than 20 total, have been characterized from human urine, including thiamine fragments (7,8), and the corresponding carboxyHc acids (1,37,38). [Pg.88]

The pattern of commercial production of 1,3-butadiene parallels the overall development of the petrochemical industry. Since its discovery via pyrolysis of various organic materials, butadiene has been manufactured from acetylene as weU as ethanol, both via butanediols (1,3- and 1,4-) as intermediates (see Acetylene-DERIVED chemicals). On a global basis, the importance of these processes has decreased substantially because of the increasing production of butadiene from petroleum sources. China and India stiU convert ethanol to butadiene using the two-step process while Poland and the former USSR use a one-step process (229,230). In the past butadiene also was produced by the dehydrogenation of / -butane and oxydehydrogenation of / -butenes. However, butadiene is now primarily produced as a by-product in the steam cracking of hydrocarbon streams to produce ethylene. Except under market dislocation situations, butadiene is almost exclusively manufactured by this process in the United States, Western Europe, and Japan. [Pg.347]

With the grain, ie, samples cut parallel to the molding plane or extmsion axis. Across the grain, ie, samples cut perpendicular to the molding or extmsion force. To convert GPa to psi, multiply by 145,000. [Pg.505]

Electrophilic mercuration of isoxazoles parallels that of pyridine and other azole derivatives. The reaction of 3,5-disubstituted isoxazoles with raercury(II) acetate results in a very high yield of 4-acetoxymercury derivatives which can be converted into 4-broraoisoxazoles. Thus, the reaction of 5-phenylisoxazole (64) with mercury(II) acetate gave mercuriacetate (88) (in 90% yield), which after treatment with potassium bromide and bromine gave 4-bromo-5-phenylisoxazole (89) in 65% yield. The unsubstituted isoxazole, however, is oxidized under the same reaction conditions, giving mercury(I) salts. [Pg.26]

These are unidirectional and uncontrollablet static electronic devices and used as static switches and shown in Figure 6.14. A diode turns ON at the instant it becomes forward biased and OFF when it becomes reverse biased. By connecting them in series parallel combinations, they can be made suitable for any desired voltage and current ratings. Whether it is a transistor scheme or a thyristor scheme, they are used extensively where a forward conduction alone is necessary and the scheme calls for only a simple switching, without any control over the switching operation. They are used extensively in a rectifier circuit to convert a fixed a.c. supply to a fixed d.c. supply. [Pg.112]
