Apart from the Internet forums, the information acquired by the usual paper sources treats completed works. As a result of their diverse architecture, different descriptors such as whiskers, nanowhiskers, cellulose nanocrystals, nano-crystalline cellulose, monocrystals or microcrystallites are used in literature to describe crystalline rod-like nanoparticles (Eichhom et al, 2010 Frone et al, 2011 Khalil et al, 2012), while terms such as microfibrils, microfibrillated cellulose or nanofibrillated cellulose are used to describe cellulosic nanoparticles that are obtained as a result of mechanical shearing disintegration process (Siqueira et al, 2010 Siqueira et al, 2011). A new acoustic emission system (AEBIL Acoustic Emission Binary Localizer) meeting the requirements for continuous on-line structural surveillance of critical conponents of operating plants Is described in the paper. The system is specifically designed to identify and locate structurally significant, spatially concentrated, AE sources in the presence of a high rate of spatially diffuse AE events. Homogeneity of data. Homogeneous data will be uniform in structure and composition, usually possible to describe with a fixed number of parameters. Homogeneous data is encountered in simple NDT inspection, e.g. quality control in production. Inhomogeneous data will contain various combinations of indications from construction elements, defects and noise sources. An example of inhomogenous data are ultrasonic B-scan images as described in [Hopgood, 1993] or as encountered in the ultrasonic rail-inspection system described later in this paper. [Pg.98]

The paper presents the results from systematic comparisons of contrast and resolution obtained with different types of radiation sources on steel thicknesses from 5 to 40 mm. These results have been taken into account with the definitions of the European standard for radiographic inspection of weldments (EN 1435) that is approved since 1997. The collecting flask is called a side arm flask and to that extended nipple (tee heel) is attached a vacuum source. The thing that is shoved through the rubber stopper is called a Buchner funnel and is usually made of white porcelain or, preferably, PP. The Buchner funnel, when viewed from above, can be seen to have lots of pin holes in the bottom surface of its reservoir.
