There is some ambiguity about Mulliken population analysis in the literature. This is because various software packages print different portions of the analysis and may name them slightly differently. The description here follows some of the more common conventions. [Pg.100]

Black Pigments. The only black pigment used to an appreciable extent in inks is carbon black It is used in newsprinting, pubHcation, commercial and packaging printing therefore, in large quantities. Black pigments ate offered in fluffy or beaded forms and in a variety of particle sizes and physical properties. [Pg.248]

Aluminum lakes of P.0.17 l are available in the USA. Properties which are pertinent to the coloristics and application of the pigment parallel those of the barium lakes. P.O,17 l, an equally high strength pigment, also affords brilliant shades and is used in packaging prints, especially for paraffin-based wrapping paper for bread. [Pg.322]

Commercially available P.O.46 types are usually quite transparent. They are employed primarily in packaging printing inks, also in offset and metal deco printing. Publication gravure inks, plastics, especially PVC, LDPE, and elastomers, as well as general industrial paints are suitable media for pigment application. P.O.46 is less solvent resistant than P.R.53 1, but it is faster to alkali and acid. In terms of lightfastness, P.O.46 performs poorly 1/3 and 1/25 SD prints equal only step 1 on the Blue Scale. [Pg.323]

The printing ink industry utilizes P.Gr.7 particularly for packaging printing inks. In this area, however, green shades are frequently also produced by combining the less expensive (3-Copper Phthalocyanine Blue with suitable organic yellow pigments. [Pg.450]

In the printing ink area P.R.264 can be used for high grade packaging printing inks. The prints are transparent and show good lightfastness. [Pg.493]

P.R.83, listed under Constitution No. 58000 1, continues to be used only in the USA. The pigment affords brilliant, bluish shades of red. Traces of iron as an impurity adversely affect the full shades and shift the color towards duller and bluer shades. The pigment is not fast to common organic solvents, especially to esters and ketones. It therefore lacks stability to overcoating. Its lightfastness, particularly in tint, is poor. P.R.83 is used in paints for toys, in packaging printing inks, especially for soap and butter, and in artists colors. [Pg.511]

Its coloristic properties make P.B.l a suitable and widely used colorant for special printing inks. The pigment may be incorporated without problems in oily binders, i.e., in letterpress and offset inks. It is equally often used in publication gravure printing inks based on toluene and in packaging printing inks based on NC. Problems which may arise as P.B.l is incorporated in these vehicles are mentioned under P.V.2. Besides, P.B.l lends color to paper, wallpaper, typewriter ribbons, and other media, although it is often difficult to disperse. [Pg.561]

The major opportunity for our technology was to be in store-printed labels. The most expensive items in supermarkets are found in the meat and fish counters.
