In comparison with single molecule precursors of GaN, very few reports exist on single molecule precursors for InN. One of the main reasons for this is that the In-N bond is weak compared to the Ga-N or Al - N bonds, and the equilibrium vapor pressure of N2 over InN is much higher than that over GaN and AIN. The coordination chemistry of indium(I) received little or no attention for many years, largely no doubt because of the lack of suitable starting materials. The indium(I) halides can be easily prepared,1 but are intractable materials which readily undergo hydrolysis and disproportionation (but see Section 25.2.2.1). The only known organoindium(I) compounds are the cyclopentadienyl and methycyclopentadienyl derivatives,8 and the former has proven a useful starting point for some synthetic work. Electrochemical methods have been used either to reduce higher states, or to oxidize the metal in the presence of suitable ligands, in order to produce indium(I) species. 

Organoindium thiocyanate derivatives do not appear to have been reported. The results of stability constant measurements for In3+/NCS have been reviewed the recommended values are similar to those for In3+/Cr systems.9... 

The nucleophilic reaction of Grignard reagents with azetidin-2,3-dione 270 yielded mainly fA-3-hydroxyazetidin-2-ones 271 (Equation 76) <2006S115>. A regio- and stereoselective reaction of azetidine-2,3-dione 272 with an organoindium compound led to the formation of azetidin-2-one-tethered homoallylic alcohol 273 (Equation 77), which has been used as precursor of spirocyclic azetidin-2-ones <2004TL6429>. 

Organoindium substances are important, especially for the production of materials by metal-organic chemical vapor-phase deposition (MOCVD). This technique involves the thermal decomposition of mixtures of an organoindium compound and a compound such as phosphine (PH3), leading to the deposition of ordered layers of InP. The resulting compound can be used in the formation of semiconductors and solid-state optical devices (similar to silicon), see also Inorganic Chemistry.
