The data from some single-dosage oral toxicity tests, expressed as LD q, are reported in Table 4. The values reported on the order of 1 g/kg or greater indicate a low acute oral toxicity. In animals, continued ingestion of chlorobenzenes over a long time can cause kidney and Hver damage.

The gas mixtures themselves are free from heavy metals and have high toxicological compatibility. In the acute oral toxicity test carried out according to the EU Directive, the LD50 value was greater than 2500 mg/kg.

Its excellent pesticidal properties are vitiated by its high toxicity to mammals. Its acute oral lDj, for rats is S.4 mg/kg. Prior to initiating these studies, a thorough search of the literature was conducted and the extent of oral toxicity tests was determined. It was found that the colors have a very low order of acute oral toxicity. An experimental design was then developed. Potential reproductive toxicities were evaluated in multigeneration reproductive and teratological studies. No adverse effects were reported at any of the levels examined.

The rat (Rattus rattus) was the most sensitive mammal tested in acute oral toxicity screenings, with an LD50 of 224,000.0 tig diazinon/kg BW. Chronic oral toxicity tests with swine (Sus scrofa) indicated that death was probable if daily intakes were greater than 5000.0 xg diazinon/kg BW. It is important to have a knowledge of the oral mammalian toxicity of a substance if widespread use is to be contemplated. An acute oral toxicity test was carried out on LED3A using Sprague-Dawley rats. The product was found to be nontoxic and to exert no toxic effects at 5 g/kg. Therefore an could not be established. The product can be defined as nontoxic under TSCA guidelines. By comparison, the LDjg of linear alkylbenzene sulfate has been reported [17] to be 900 mg/kg.
