Each proteia is unique and the stabiUty of the proteia varies depending on the host. Thus it is not feasible to have a single omnipotent microbial host for the production of all recombinant proteias. While readthrough is usually a detrimental process, in some cases it can help to suppress problems, e.g. arising from premature stop codons present on the DNA level. I call such four-dimensional beings Gods. If we ever encounter beings that can move in a fourth spatial dimension, we would find that they can perform levitation, bloodless surgery, disappear in front of our eyes, walk through walls.. .. It would be very difficult to hide from them no matter where we went. Objects locked in safes would be easy for them to retrieve. If such a being were observed in biblical times, it would be considered a God with many characteristics of omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. 

Thus Feinberg s doubts about irresistibility call attention to a conceptual point about desire rather than to an awesome volitional power of human beings. It is not that there are certain forces that, remarkably/ are no match for human determination rather, we do not stand to our desires as to slabs of stone. For this reason, desires cannot be said to be irresistible by the same criterion, and perhaps in the same sense, as forces of nature. The corollary for the concept of motivational ability is this In Feinberg s words again, that "there is no... limit to our ability to resist temptation" that is comparable to the limits of our physical capacities not, again, because of an unusual omnipotence in this region of life, but because ability means something quite different in the motivational case. 

Freud believed that infants had just such omnipotence (1900, p. 598 1915, p. 135). He said that the demands of reality ended their self-sufficiency but if he meant the threat of starvation he was certainly not referring literally to modern society. In fact young children reduce their fantasy lives gradually not because their parents and teachers beat them into line but because their fantasy becomes relatively less satisfying and fails to compete with other forms of play. 

This is the solution to our second problem how an organism that has an extensive capacity to reinforce itself can take an interest in the outside world. An omnipotent organism has a shortage of scarcity it needs objects that can maintain appetite if it is to get the greatest possible reward.
