From the Old Dominion University survey it is clear that the students perceptions of Willy s actions in the Admiral Sugar Processing Plant incident shifted dramatically from pre-9/11 to post-9/11. For example, when asked to select the best pre-9/11 descriptor to describe Willy, crazy and insane ranked high however, after 9/11, the students perception shifted away from crazy and insane to terrorist. Likewise, the students pre-9/11 responses on Willy s actions ranked high in madness however, his actions post-9/11 overwhelmingly were described as terrorism .

Sediment samples were collected using a grab sampler (which samples approximately the top 10 cm) aboard Old Dominion University s research vessels, ODU-1 and Linwood Hoi Con. The sample locations are shown In Figure 1. The samples were stored frozen In clean, solvent-washed jars until analyzed. Creosoted wood samples were collected from areas adjacent to the Elizabeth River (Figure 1). Three samples of refined creosote and one sample of coal tar were also analyzed. Creosote samples from Atlantic Wood Industries, the remaining operative creosotlng facility on the Elizabeth River, were not available. The woodstove soot sample was obtained from a domestic woodstove in which predominantly hardwoods were burned.

Martha Mary Daas is an Associate Professor of Spanish at Old Dominion University. Her articles on medieval literature focus on female saints and the power of virginity, but she has pubhshed on topics as diverse as parody in the literature of the Middle Ages and rehgion as portrayed in the television show South Park. Her first book. The Politics of Salvation Gonzalo de Berceo s Re-invention of the Marian Myth will be out in December 2010. She is currently at work on a second book examining popular culture in the Spanish Middle Ages.

Paul Miner is a Research Engineer with the Formal Methods Team at NASA Langley Research Center. He will complete his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Indiana University in the fall of 1997. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University and an M.S. in Computer Science from the College of William and Mary. His research interests include application of formed techniques to digital hardware design and analysis of fault-tolerant systems.

The total number of samples that have been characterized by the teams at NASA-Langley and Old Dominion University is 60 for all three missions, with the remaining spaces being utilized by Paragon Optical. We are on the upward slope of a learning curve. Some early conclusions are possible but they are by no means definitive.
