OHSAS 18001 integrated management

ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 9000 (Quality) together to create an integrated management assurance system. Interestingly, the international safety community is doing just that. [Pg.42]

The production of an integrated management system such as OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) has enabled mapping to be achieved between the systems mentioned above and a health and safety management system. [Pg.26]

The OHSAS standards covering occupational health and safety management are intended to provide organizations with the elements of an effective SMS that can be integrated with other management reqnirements and help organizations achieve safety and economic objectives. [Pg.97]

The quality approach started with an American writer, W. Edwards Deming, whose approach was taken up enthusiastically by Japanese manufacturers. It is reflected in the International Standards Organization ISO 9000 series, and for enviromnenlal management in the ISO 14000 series. More recently the approach has been taken np for OHS in OHSAS 18001 1999 (adopted in the UK and Canada), and Anstralian Standard 4801 2000, together with the implementation standards BS 8800 and AS/NZS 4804 2001. Three other standards, however, do so. OHSAS 18002 and the earlier BS 8800 1996 show how to tackle the various elements in an OHS management system, and how to integrate them into the everyday management of an organization. Likewise AS/NZS 4804, the standard linked to AS 4801, provides guidance on what to do to implement an OHS management system. [Pg.568]

This model has been structured to fit with the international quality management system standard BS EN ISO 9000 and the equivalent environmental management system standard BS EN ISO 1400F. Applying the OHSAS model therefore offers the opportunity for companies who have opted for the quality management system to integrate environment and health and safety into one comprehensive management process. [Pg.310]

Quality Systems and Environmental Management Systems require the same attifede to achieving and maintaining standards and it is common practice to integrate the two. This can beneficially be extended to Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001). This approach has a... [Pg.954]

BSI-OHSAS 18001 was specifically developed with requirements of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System in mind, allowing for ease of integration of management systems. [Pg.96]

OHSAS 18001 has been developed to be compatible with the ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) management systems standards, in order to facilitate the integration of quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems by organisations, should they wish to do so. [Pg.124]

The OHSAS directive was created to be compatible with international standards ISO 9000 and ISO 14000, and aimed at providing their integration into common management systems in organizations that pursue it. [Pg.37]
