Office trailers

Temporary, nonpermanent structures may be used at processing facilities. The most common are mobile office trailers used during construction or periodic major unit overhaul or turnaround. A common practice is that these temporary offices are located near processing areas for convenience and are not removed on completion of the job thus, they transition from temporary to semipermanent. [Pg.314]

If trailers remain in service after startup and are located next to a flammable and combustible processing area, the personnel using these trailers do not have the same level of protection from events in the processing area as do those in permanent buildings. Office trailer installations should be included in the facility siting study (API RP 752 CCPS, 1996c). [Pg.314]

Point out safety devices on an actual vehicle. Demonstrate spotter signals. Ask trainees to talk about any incident or near-miss backup incident. Have trainees pretend to be the site engineer for a site with a trench, excavator, storage area, fueling area, office trailer, and two dump trucks and one pickup going in and out of the site. Have them take 10 minutes to decide where vehicles are going to work, travel, and park and where employees on foot will be, all with the intent to reduce the risk of backup incidents. [Pg.498]

Fifteen employees were killed by the explosion. They were contractor woikers working in and around temporary office trailers that had been previously located close to the blowdown drum. A total of 180 workers were injtrred. Of that total, 66 workers were injured seriously enough that they had medical treatmerrt, restricted work activity or that they had days away from work requirements. Most suffered mirltiple injuries. Workers experienced combinations of fractures, lacerations, punctures, strains, sprains, and/or serions bnms [15] (see Fig. 4.7). [Pg.104]

A poor level of hazard awareness and nnderstanding of process safety on the site resulted in people accepting levels of risk that are considerably higher than comparable installations. One conseqnence was that temporary office trailers were placed within 150 feet of a blowdown stack which vented heavier than air hydrocarbons to the atmosphere withont questioning the established industry practice. [Pg.89]

Nathan was once on a construction site before a shift began and was able to observe a subcontractor orientation session. The construction workers were milling around in front of the construction office trailer waiting for the trainer. At the designated time, a person came out of the office, placed a tape recorder on top of a wooden fence post, turned it on, and went back into the office. The recorder loudly played the safety message while the workers continued to mill around, smoke, and chat. At the end of the tape, the person returned, got the tape recorder, and went back into the office. [Pg.263]

My most unusual patient was a young man who lived with his wife in a trailer. His main complaint was his inability to go anywhere without severe anxiety. This problem dovetailed extremely well with my lack of an office. His wife, however, complained that from her point of view, his most serious problem was impotence. [Pg.205]

The explosion resulted in construction trailers having their sides bowed inward and significant window damages at a distance of 1200 ft. (365) and as far away as 3,000 ft. (900 m). The explosion occurred on a plant holiday. If it had been a regular work day, many more injuries could have occurred within the unit and in a neighboring office building located 500 ft (150 m) from the epicenter of the blast. [Pg.188]
