It is impractical and unfair to expect a small-scale research project like this to help meet all the PLOs, though certain components were found to register lower impact compared to the others. Occupational health and safety issues may change as the workplace develops, but they will continue to be primary concerns for employers, businesses, and the government in the global marketplace. Maintaining worker safety and preventing injury and illness are economically sound and ethically correct business practices. 

The same transformation shifted to America and is still in progress today in countries such as China. It was accompanied by moves by workers away from the land and towards industrial cities. Basic city sanitation was initially very poor in Europe and so envirorunental health problems overlay occupational health and safety issues.

Nowadays, manufacturing companies are expected to manage occupational health and safety issues accurately, systematically and visibly. The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) covers a broad range of issues relating to worker health and safety, many of which impact the power generation industry (16,17). Occupational health and safety in the rubber industry is discussed with reference to UK, US and European legislation. The review covers both natural and synthetic rubber industries.
