Objects of the invention

Angeltr—>has briefly reported in a patent the addition of metal ions to several types of polyimides. The object of the invention was a process for forming particle-containing (transparent polyimide shaped structures. Unlike the work discussed previously, all of the metals were added in the form of coordination complexes rather than as simple anhydrous or hydrated salts. The properties of only one film (e.g. cast from a N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF) solution of 4,4 -diaminodiphenyl methane, pyromellitic dianhydride and bis(acetylacetonato)-... 

We now come to another important part of the specification—namely, recitation of the objects of the invention. They are all stated as relating to a method of welding in which the itemized drawbacks are overcome. And then we find the usual stereotyped expression Other objects of the invention will become apparent as the description of our invention proceeds. ... 

This stereotyped expression was perhaps fortunate, inasmuch as a new fluxing composition, which turned out to be the only feature of the invention the court considered patentable, was not included in the stated objects of the invention. Even more fortunate was the statement The composition of the welding medium is of the utmost importance. ... 

The principal object of the invention is to reduce the noise associated with the muzzle blast of a firearm. Other objects are to reduce the weighty size and cost of a silencer and improve the stability of performance. 

The patent specification corresponds to the body portion of a scientific paper. It generally starts out with a brief statement of the field of the subject matter. Usually, one then finds a listing of the objects of the invention, followed or preceded by a discussion of earlier efforts in the same or related fields, often with special emphasis on their deficiencies. 

It is therefore an object of this invention to provide a safer method for manufacturing hydrazine. It is another object of the invention to provide an economical process for safely producing hydrazine of high concentration without the requirement of reduced pressure during distillation. A further object is to provide an improved economical efficient method for producing substantially anhydrous hydrazine. A still further object is to render hydrazine vapor sufficiently insensitive to electric sparks and the like that mass decomposition thereof is prevented. 

To secure a t fect closing of the vent in all cases is the object of the invention here illustrated. An elastic leather pad. A, is secured to the lower side of the lever, B, which is hinged to the breech of the gun in such position that, when it is turned down, the pad is brought directly over the vent. A hook or catch, C, is faid to the gun on the side posite the hinge, in a way to catch by a spring over the lever as the hitter is tum down, and hold it securely in place with the pad pressed down upon the vent. 

Patent law treats chemical inventors generously. To obtain protection, it does not demand they elucidate the structures of the compoimds they claim. A so-called product-by-process claim lets inventors secure a patent for compounds of unknown structure. An allowable claim of this kind relates the starting material(s), solvent(s), reaction(s), and procedure(s) needed to produce the compound of interest. Effectively it specifies that the object of the invention is whatever remains when the inventor s instructions have been scrupulously followed. Such a claim offers uncertain protection, for a competitor can perhaps circumvent the patent by making the compoimd through a different synthesis. 

The object of the invention is to provide a cable, and a corresponding method of production with a reduced weight and a reduced amount of extruded material for the outer sheath. The above table shows formulations which have been used by the inventors. It is also possible to use additives which cause expansion of the PVC layer and thus further reduce the weight and required thickness of the layer. 

Provision of some or all of the methods and apparatus discussed above constitutes some of the principal objects of the invention, others of which will become apparent in view of the ensuing disclosure and accompanying drawings wherein ...

Still another object of the invention is to design a novel breeder system in which energy released by the reaction is utilized for the production of power. Such an arrangement requires high temperature operation of the system.
